a lovely day here but I have to spend it grading papers – I think I’ll take them outside on the porch
I have my window open and the outdoors sounds and smells wonderful. I will probably take myself outside after it gets above 70 … 65 is still a bit cool for me.
Good morning, it’s 53 and cloudy in Bellingham today. Spring has exploded in our garden this week…..more roses and rhodies than the deer can eat! The flower shop has begonia baskets blooming so it’s nearly time to start planting my containers. I’m so glad I can safely lift again. The Dr said I might feel a pull but I no longer have to worry about getting a hernia, so as soon as I get some energy back I’ve got another season in the garden to enjoy.
Heide and our son are on the mend as well, but we all look and feel like we’ve been through something hard, and we have. Apparently it takes some time to process all that has happened. I ‘ll be glad when the memory is more distant!
Good to hear from you, princesspat! Take a deep breath and just enjoy the garden for a while.
I thought rhododendrons were poisonous to animals–or am I thinking of goats? Seems to me I read somewhere that certain animals would die from eating them.

I don’t know about rhodies and animals, but maybe that’s why the deer are as interested in them as they are the other plants. It’s still surprising to me that an urban herd is now snacking through the neighborhood. The street I use everyday is called “Garden St” and we’re all learning to watch closely for the deer who think they have the right of way.
Your gardening plans are ambitious…..I love to pick warm strawberries from the garden.
I think that rhodies are bad for cats.
