Good morning, Meese! Partly cloudy, 79 F. already and promising to climb to 89 F. today. Was going to pull weeds this morning but Dearly Beloved said it’s very humid outside so I’ll stay indoors. Must get outside errands done this morning so I can stay indoors this afternoon.
Went to say goodbye to Miss Pink Cheeks’ kindergarten teacher last night—there was a retirement party for her in the school cafeteria. She said she had originally planned to retire after 30 years’ service but God whispered to her, “One more year,” so she could teach Nora. She looked at me and said, “You know you are blessed, right?” Of course I know! Everyone is probably aware that my grandchildren are the brightest, most beautiful children in the Commonwealth of Virginia. :D
Have little to say about the news other than to repeat that I must be very careful about what I read on GOS. Some of the diaries there have increased my blood pressure. Perhaps I’ll clean up my office instead of worrying about the news today. Hope everyone will have a great, relaxing Saturday!
This is very true: “I must be very careful about what I read on GOS”. I have solved it by what some might think is a cowards way out – by leaving. But I was in the thick of things during the 2012 campaign and, really, beating ones head against a wall does not change the wall, it only hurts your head.
I was saddened to see the fighting in my Tweeter stream last night (I follow people up and down the liberal spectrum). I think that those who claim, as a representative from Oregon did, that President Obama has always been against the Democrats in Congress is complete nonsense. The president is a person who wants to get things done. I think he would be the first to admit that his high-hopes for bipartisanship often led him to craft solutions that would appeal to both parties … and which were dissed as both too much and too little. He has been called “just like Bush”, a shill for Wall Street, a warmonger, a baby-killer, and a traitor to his race. He is none of those things but to the teaparty-left (those so far to the left that they have more in common with the right-wing of the Republican Party than they do with the Democratic Party), he will never EVER do anything that pleases them.
President Obama embraces Democratic Party principles and one of those principles is to make life better for people. If he has to personally take the heat for that, from both the right and the left, he doesn’t care.
It may be time to crank up my “I Vote For Democrats” series, 2016 Edition, to remind people what those principles are. You start with this: you never sacrifice the lives of people for the purity position on any issue. It is simply not worth it. Single-payer won’t pass? Okay, pass the flawed Affordable Care Act … which is saving about 10,000 lives a year.
went to workout, but my heel started bothering me
so I came home. We’re having a breakfast together after, I’m going back for that, but my heel felt like it was on fire, so no walking today.
Good morning, it’s 55 and sunny in Bellingham today. Our grand girl and Maggie, the grand puppy, will be here soon so we’ll have a fun day. Ron has planned a camera outing at a local beach with her this morning. Then this afternoon we’ll go to the bookstore cafe for lunch, find a few summer books to read at the bookstore, and take a card to our friend at the flower shop who just had both knees repaired. She’s miserable now, but will soon be able to walk again. And at age 50 that’s important!
