Jensen was fired from her job at a pizza restaurant in Bonner Springs, KS for asking her boss why she was paid 25 cents less than her male co-worker and friend, Jake. After Jensen and Jake’s story came to light, Hillary tweeted “Good for you, Jensen. Every woman deserves equal pay, no matter what her age. Keep up the hard work—and courage!”

Khizr Khan

Khizr Khan’s son, Humayun S. M. Khan was a University of Virginia graduate and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Khan was one of 14 American Muslims who died serving the United States in the ten years after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Clinton spoke extensively about Kahn during a speech in Minneapolis.

      “When we fight to reinstate the power of the voting rights act, and we break the interposition and nullification of the current Congress, we in the South especially know, that when we do that we are reviving the heart of our democracy,” he said. “The heart of our democracy is on the line this November and beyond.”

      “Now, my friends, they tell me that when the heart is in danger, somebody has to call an emergency code, and somebody with a good heart will bring a defibrillator to work on the bad heart. Because it’s possible to shock a bad heart and revive the pulse. In this season, when some want to harden and stop the heart of our democracy, we are being called like our foremothers and fathers to be the moral defibrillators of our time.     Father Of Fallen Muslim Soldier Teaches Trump A Lesson In True Patriotism

    “We are honored to stand here as the parents of Captain Humayun Khan and as patriotic American Muslims with undivided loyalty to our country,” Khizr Khan, father of Humayun, said.

    Onstage with his wife, Khan asked whether Trump has “even read the United States Constitution.”

    “I will gladly lend you my copy,” Khan said, pulling a pocket-size constitution from his jacket. “In the document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law.’”

    Khan also said Trump has “sacrificed nothing and no one” and suggested he take a trip to Arlington Cemetery to see how people of “all faiths, genders and ethnicities” have “died defending the United States of America.”

    The DNC’s most powerful anti-Trump message came from the father of a fallen Muslim soldier

    The most dignified, damning indictment of Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia came from Khizr Khan, the father of an American Muslim Army captain who was killed in action in Iraq in 2006. […]

    Khan’s son, Humayun Khan, was 26 when he died. He was honored posthumously for heroism: In his final moments, he kept walking toward a car laden with explosives, signaling for it to stop, an action that officials said saved many lives. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

    “Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son the best of America,” Khan said. “If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America.”

    “Through 37 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, I saw some of the toughest challenges that our nation faces around the world, and I know that America has the power to meet those challenges. However, it requires continued leadership and engagement in the world, continued partnership with our allies, and a clear understanding of our adversaries. It requires patience and a deep comprehension of the international landscape to make smart decisions about when and how to use military force as well as an understanding that other tools of American power such as diplomacy and development aid – that will armed forces out of harm’s way unless it is absolutely necessary. And it requires a leader who wants to understand these complex issues and seek advice and counsel. Hillary Clinton is all of those things.

    This has been a very personal decision for me. I have stayed out of the political arena my entire adult life, but given the complexities of issues facing our country today and its longtime allies, I felt compelled to speak up and be heard. I have no doubt that she is the leader we need at this time to keep our country safe, and I trust her with that most sacred responsibility of Commander-in-Chief.”

  7. Republicans wish they had run a convention like ours. Sorry, RNC! Your party took a dump on Abraham Lincoln’s legacy with your racist dog whistling and now you have a nominee who says our country is a hell hole and our military a disaster. Time to pay the piper.

    The Reviews Are In: Conservatives Say The DNC Was ‘Disaster’ For The GOP

    Something strange happened on the last night of the Democratic National Convention.

    After the GOP nominee lambasted the Democrats on Twitter for displaying what he viewed as too few American flags, there was a sea of waving flags as far as the eye could see when Hillary Clinton became the first woman to accept a major party’s nomination on Thursday.

    A small faction of protesters chanting “no more war” as General John Allen spoke were quickly drowned out by chants of “USA!” filling the Philadelphia arena. The most notable refrain from the RNC crowd last week: “Lock her up.”

    The evening also hammered home the stark tonal difference between the two conventions. After Trump painted America as a downcast country in need of a billionaire savior, night after night of all-star DNC speakers preached a sermon of American exceptionalism, with values that unify us all – talking points once exclusively owned by Republicans.

    It was enough to give a lot of conservatives whiplash. Here are just a few of them praising the DNC and bemoaning the state of affairs in their own party.
