Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

Warm, rainy morning — I set some of my plants out from the porch to get free water. Visited my friend last evening, she’s doing ok. Since I didn’t walk yesterday, she said I can have half her chocolate if I come today after I’ve walked. So I’m going to get the car inspected, take out the trash (in between rain storms) and walk.
Good morning, 24 and still dark in Bellingham. The moon is shining in my window and through the branches of my old trees. It’s a lovely sight to see, so I’m going to relax with another cup of coffee just watch.
Best wishes to all on this Friday, the 13th!
33 at what passed for dawn and heading for mid 40s today. Damp enough to make my joints ache but diddly as far as actual rain. Friday 13th is good for us, bad for them. Tonight’s full Warrior Moon is also good for us and bad for them – especially as She’s hidden by cloud cover and can do some serious stealth missions.
I must put away my ‘history made’ Hillary magnet. At first looking at it gave me strength – to form community and keep going – but now it just makes me want to cry. I’ll find an envelope big enough to protect it and put it carefully away with my pictures and memorabilia for whoever in my family decides to do a history. A couple of family members have talked about it, so I’ve been saving stuff over the years. Hillary herself still gives me strength. She is still going forward and will continue her work however she may. I hope it will be in some venue I can help with rather than just look on and admire. If she can keep on keepin’ on, I can and will, too. But that Dream is shattered and the pieces need to be put carefully away.
Community building is what I am doing/trying to do because community is the only way we will survive this. The Rs are already showing us – again – that they don’t care what anybody wants, even their own base. They abuse power for the love of abusing power. So I’ll keep phoning and sending cards – and be thankful whenever we win one – but my energy is in community. Loving Kindness outnumbers and will ultimately overwhelm Hate. Keep on keepin’ on. Bright the day and wind to thy wings, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, meese! Saturday …
It is 10 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 23. Scattered clouds this morning will clear by afternoon.
I will be posting President Obama’s final Weekly Address shortly. It is a condensed version of his Farewell Speech.
See all y’all later!
Good morning, Meese! It’s 35 F. here under rainy gray skies, going up to a whopping 38 F. today. This is good, as apparently the ground was too warm for freezing rain, ice, snow, and whatnot. I might be able to go to the gym today after all.
My office is nearly tidied. The only thing I have to do with the newly cleaned downstairs fridge is wipe it out with disinfectant cloths, just to be on the safe side, and clean the outside. Yesterday we bought a microwave at Goodwill and a bookcase-type thing to put it on. I have to make a cake this morning in between doing all that. Beloved Nephew is due to come for tea today to talk about his late father.
These revelations re Trump/Russia/golden showers would be enough to impeach a Democrat or derail said Democrat’s inauguration, but here we are with the Death Dealers on Capitol Hill going on their merry way. I do wish someone would tie James Comey and Jason Chaffetz to chairs and whack their goolies with fly swatters. It would serve them right.
Wishing all a good, peaceful day while thinking up ways to annoy the Death Dealers for the next two to four years.
Upper 30s to mid 40s overcast and maybe a bit more rain added to the 1″ we got overnight. Too dark for the PV system to be on yet – got only 1.3 KWHs yesterday but we’re still averaging over 4 a day – not good enough but definitely better than not. Waiting for my friend to take me grocery shopping.
Working on my Saturday Street Prophets. Strengthening community is the only way we are going to survive the Rs – however long they manage to stay in power. I do have to seriously ground myself to provide a supportive message though. The fundraisers I’ve been supporting did very well until about 2 weeks before the election and have gone back and forth between nothing and driblets since. And of course the same people are helping as best they can over and over again, bless them. So I keep getting The Word out and keep trying to hold communities together – and send up a lot of petitions to the full Warrior Moon for defending as well as Mother Moon for nourishing and Grandmother Moon for hiding and healing and Daughter Moon for finding the path to safety and prosperity.
So. Need to get back over to DK and work on that diary since it posts this afternoon (3 central). Bright the day and wind to thy wings, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
So, I’m not posting at 6am. I barely slept last night. Sometime around 3, I re-set my alarm for 7:30 instead of 5:30. I need to get in the 9 miles I was supposed to. After my brain starts working. For now, tea & waiting for Joy Reid. She’ll probably have Malcolm Nance on to talk about the spy thing.
Good Saturday morning Meese
I’m late posting – woke up at 3AM and when I got back to sleep – overslept.
I want to hug this man .
I am sure you saw the tRump whiny tweets going after Rep. Lewis. If Donald Trump wants to make John Lewis the face of the resistance, bring it on!
Good morning, 25 and cloudy in Bellingham. Yesterday became a plumbing day, so I had time off from tRump worry! The drain pipe in the basement was an easy fix, but doing so bumped a pipe loose under the kitchen sink. So that got fixed and cleaned up, and since we were there the leaking faucet was fixed as well.
So then we decided to fix the outdoor faucet that keeps freezing and that lead to trouble, resulting in a total water shutoff. They had to remove pavers, soften the frozen ground with a blow torch, and dig down to install a new shut off valve so we have water again. Then we found the hot water overflow was triggered someway, so another corner of the basement is now very clean and drying out. The plumbers will be back next week to install a new outdoor faucet that won’t freeze and repair the pipes to the garden and the garage. It should be warmer so digging will be easier when the ground isn’t frozen.
I love my old house, but yesterday it was more challenging than charming. Today I hope to get back to the sewing room project. The paint should be dry so we can put the closet back together again and start getting ready to install the carpet.
Best Saturday wishes to all!
