Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (every Sunday morning). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

Good morning, 36 and partly sunny in Bellingham. Our Constituent Coffee with Sen. Murray was interesting yesterday……she really does wear tennis shoes! And her inaugural attire was a pink PP sweatshirt, worn under her coat :) She said the Women’s March the next day was empowering for her and the entire Dem Caucus.
She listened carefully to each one of us, and her staff was there to follow up. I spoke briefly re our families health care needs and Ron spoke to the need to protect science and scientific data. It was sobering to be in the room, to listen to the concerns of everyone, and to realize how profoundly our individual lives have already been impacted by this election. But Sen Murray was firm re her need to know our concerns, and how important it is to contact her. She is determined to stand in opposition, keep the Dem’s united, and she needs to know her constituents support her.
Her health care out reach staff person gave me her contact info so I can send her an easier to read copy of my hastily written notes.
Sen Murray encouraged all of us to be an active voice for what we value, and closed with these words, “Rights are assumed, until they go away.”

Thanks, princesspat, it was most interesting to read your account!
26 heading for mid 40s again today and sunny. Didn’t get quite 10 KWHs yesterday, but progress is being made. The total for the month so far is 144.5. Still a cloudy month, but getting better.
I’m beginning to think my greatest contribution to The Resistance is convincing people to narrow their focus enough that they aren’t overwhelmed and encouraging them to not give up. But I’m still sending in my weekly postcards. Phone calls are going to be problematic. The Powers That Be sent out that “no political activity during business hours” three times last week. I’d prefer to retire than be fired. But I’m doing my community fundraisers at DK when nobody’s looking. Not that they couldn’t find out if they wanted to. It’s a university computer and they can track where I go. But so far they haven’t.
Need to go finish today’s Street Prophets Sharing Saturday. Will check back in a bit. Bright the day and wind to thy wings, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Hi bfitzinAR,
I am following you here from the Village Under the Bus at DKOS. This is just to establish my user account, I believe. What a day!
Thanks,
Good morning, 42 and partly sunny in Bellingham. Thanks to lazy left coast time I’m usually the last to check in so I’m wondering where everyone is this morning.
