I’m tired. I want nothing more than to spend the summer working in my gardens and helping my daughter put the finishing touches on her upcoming wedding. I want to play with my pups, cuddle with my cats, and lounge in the backyard with my family and friends. And I’ll do all that. And yet…and yet, I’m not able to ignore the attacks on all that I hold as right and just. I’m not able to ignore the coarsening of our discourse or the corruption of our rule of law. I’m not able to function as if community is unimportant; as if my individual wants supersede the needs of so many. And so, despite the occasional desire to stay in my safe chrysalis, my inner butterfly inevitably emerges in resistance. We have been given words that guide us; remind us; and inspire us, and I’m sharing them today for all who are as tired as I am, but continue in resistance.
We resist for the sake of a more perfect union.

My apologies for the late post; I came to check for it this morning and discovered I’d scheduled it for the wrong date. And yes, this post and the DK post are identical…the creative juices just weren’t flowing yesterday!
{{{DoReMI}}} – you did a very good job and pretty much covered the territory with this. Changing it just to make them different would be silly. When you are dealing with issues that could get you attacked and possibly banned at DK, of course you’ll make this one more detailed/stronger – but today’s post doesn’t fall in that category.
And like you, I’m tired. As my momma used to say, I’d give up if i knew where the giving up window was – but she didn’t and I don’t and you don’t – and basically we will ultimately win because won’t stay throwed. moar {{{HUGS}}} and {{{Moose Villagers}}}
I love that saying (and you’re right, searching for that window just isn’t going to happen)! I think one of the hardest, most exhausting parts of this is realizing that there really are no honorable Republicans to join us. For someone like my daughter, this isn’t the least bit surprising…it’s all she’s ever known about Republicans. For those of us of a certain age, who can remember more civil times, it’s much more of a psychic blow. And that means it really is up to us, no matter how reluctant we are.
Good morning, meese. Thanks for the resistance motivation, DoReMi. I think if I was doing double (or triple, like Micheal), mine would all be the same. Today we need the impetus to keep going. Hell, we found out in 12 hours that our Orange Shitgibbon can flip flop faster than any rainbow trout on a fishing line. What should be inexcusable, is just another in a string of miscues that Ryan and McConnell will overlook. They have no soul (no matter what they say).
Cloudy and cool today (high of 69). By Friday, we will be in the 90’s for 5 days. Yuck.
He’s against trump’s behavior before he’s for it. He’s the largest sucker caught on the party line.
It’s become his schtick…protest loudly, vote quietly. I never bought into the myth of McCain the Honorable, but he’s become a parody of himself. And with his wife’s name being floated as a possible ambassador to the Vatican, we’ll see how quickly his “outrage” lasts.
Thanks DoReMI…I upgraded my operating system yesterday and now the DK is acting up…caused a kernel panic…I think it’s because it uses Flash which Macs hate…anyway I was glad I had another place to come and read your wonderful diary…I too am tired but will persist on forward like you all…
I think it’s important that we acknowledge when/if we’re tired; none of us are Superwomen or men (well, maybe Hillary…she does, at the very least, show us how to get back up). It reminds me of a choral technique my daughter once told me about. I mentioned that I was amazed at the ability of her section to sustain a particular note for so long in some piece they were singing. She told me, “We’re not; we’re just taking a breath at different times so it doesn’t sound like one gulping, gasp at the same time.”
How interesting…I never knew that and it’s a perfect analogy….
This Markos guy sounds like someone I knew years ago…
Yeah, that does sound like a guy I used to know. Missed him. Hope he’s back.
I’m liking Latino Kos; he’s even been sorta, kinda defending HRC on Twitter. Even Aji said she was willing to start following him on Twitter again!
That’s progress indeed. :)
Thanks, DoReMI. Hope you are feeling better…
{{{basket]}} lovely to see you. :)
Still not 100% but much improved. Unfortunately, it seems that MG now has “my” cold…
