Today’s the day that some have been waiting for and others have been dreading; with all the differences of opinion, one thing that is certain is that very, very few have actually read The Book. Yes, a bookstore in Florida sold some copies early (that’s how some CNN reporters got their copies), and a few more pundits were given advance copies with embargo conditions. And yes, some excerpts were released early; approximately four pages out of 512. We know those excerpts have stirred up controversy in the media and on Twitter, but what’s different this time around is that there has been significant, astute, and articulate pushback. Today I’m posting some of the best.
Long, powerful thread, starting here
Let's talk for a second about #ImWithHer and #ImStillWithHer, and why women who weren't even Hillary fans are drawn to those phrases. 1/

Another thread; a quiet thank you
1. For the first time in history, a losing presidential candidate has reflected on her loss and written a book that we can learn from.

Because no one does snark quite as well as Liss
"Misogyny played no role in the election!"
"NO ONE WANTS TO READ A BOOK BY A HISTORIC FEMALE CANDIDATE WHY CAN'T SHE SHUT UP & GO AWAYYYY?"

Sarah Lerner links to an article
"Once again, Hillary Clinton is offering some opinions, and, once again, she is being told to keep quiet." https://t.co/yklrt2YNFs

Many of you have probably already seen this, but it’s a Hall of Fame thread
I've been seething all day about the response to Hillary's book, and I feel like I've finally channeled it into a coherent thread.

{{{DoReMI}}} – thanks for the double duty and I’m with Aunt Crabby! basket is sending me a copy of the book so I expect to get it in a day or two. We’ll see how long it takes me to read it – and how hard it will be to even open it. moar {{{hugS}}}
I haven’t purchased it yet either. I should be spending every waking moment chained to my sewing machine (40 days until the wedding), but I’m doing far better at procrastination than I am at non-stop sewing. Adding a book to the mix is probably unwise, but then, I never claimed wisdom!
What a completely basket like thing to do. Glad you’ll be getting your copy soon.
isn’t it though?
I tried to comment earlier and had moose issues. Perhaps an omen? Thanks for the excellent post on an awesome day. I still need to get her book (which I probably will this weekend). I sent a photo to Rannt last night…hope this means the story is moving on towards publication. This would be a good time to release since her book tour is kicking off.
For now? I am off to fight the effects of aging on my elliptical and etc.
Thanks for this wonderful thread, DoReMi!
Lissen, Amazon is supposed to deliver my hardcopy today. I prefer books on Kindle, so I have it on Kindle and will start reading it in approximately 10 minutes.
If anyone is suffering from a too-tight budget, please let me know and I will gladly send you my hard copy. I bought both versions to piss off the MSM and the Bernie Bros. I prefer not to own hard copies of books nowadays.
I am GLAD she wrote it, GLAD she’s our age, and GLAD that we will keep speaking out!
P. S. Whatsamatta with the Moose? It’s rendering everyone’s comments in boldface! It’s also very skittish, had to sign in a couple of times before I could even read this thread.
That’s such a generous offer! I wonder if any of the DK Villagers could use it?
Do, how would I find out? Should I go into SJohnson’s thread tonight?
That would be a good way.
I thought the bold face was me. I’d love a free copy, I’m sure there are others that would too. If you don’t have any die hard villagers take you up on it, I’d love to have it.
I tried to edit immediately and it said my time to edit had lapsed. Definitely problems. But, if you want to give it to me, I’ll take it. If you have someone at ????you’d prefer to offer it to, I’d understand.
WYgal, can you private message me at Orange? I’ll need your snail mail addy. Will post it tomorrow morning if you message me tonight.
Sent a kosmail.
Very nice Diana…I’m not going really be able to afford it until the 20th but I’m definitely going to buy it then. I’m sure there are some of the needs villagers that would be happy to receive it.
Afternoon meese…Clear in Tampa…yay….Thanks Sher…”What Happened” best day since Nov 9th.
{{{Batch}}} – so glad you are safe and sound.
Second that emotion, bfitz!
The bold was a missing “strong” close in the post and that makes all the comments bolded! I fixed it so you are back to normal.
Thanks, Jan!
Thank you; clearly my proofreading was haphazard at best!
It is an easy thing to miss! In the Old Ways, posts would automatically close off any open HTML pairs and your post would never impact how the comments displayed. WordPress is different – the post and the comments are actually one big page so you can make a mess of the comments with a missing /strong or /em. I remember once spending several hours trying to repair a page that had some code that blocked comments out completely.
I usually check Moose comments once or twice a day to see if people are having problems and I was able to fix it from my phone’s browser.
