Great sign by the guy in the first tweet. Of course, these are things that Michelle Obama told us – decency was on the ballot but the haters were blinded by hate and the need to erase the black family from the White House. Fk them – we will come roaring back and put women and Latinos and Muslims and maybe even Pagans in the White House. They “won” this round but they can’t disenfranchise all the decent people in America, there are too many. I noticed that a poll in Alabama showed that people under 30 are rejecting the “elect the pig because he is a Republican” directive. Good. That worked in 2016 but it appears that young people do not have the Republican tribalism that their parents and grandparents do. The next batch of voters coming of age over the next 10 years remember decency in the White House and will reject what we have now.
Good morning, Meese! Sunny but very windy here in NoVa this morning, with a current temp. of 50 F. Later it will be 60 F., which is still okay for tonight’s dinner—slow cooker pork roast with applesauce and scalloped potatoes. It rained a bit during the night.
Yet more sad news in our extended family. My daughter-in-law (mother of Miss Pink Cheeks and Mr. Preschooler) and son notified us yesterday that her father had died in the nursing home in New York State. He was able to get a green card, so came over from China years ago, but unfortunately his Alzheimer’s disease was becoming progressively worse. Still, he was able to see his grandchildren before it became too bad. Sigh. One knows that death will arrive eventually, but it’s still a shock.
Yesterday’s child-tending gig did not go as well as the first time. The boys were little devils, boisterous even at bedtime and refusing to go to sleep. An hour after donning their pj’s and brushing their teeth they were still building a fort in the older boy’s bed and chattering. Thank Goddess the parents came home an hour earlier than expected!
Another busy day today. Will keep an eye out for the March for Puerto Rico in case there is TV coverage. Wishing a day of peace and quiet to all at the Pond and Beyond.
Didn’t get much done yesterday. Got tea steeping & food thawing. Going to visit my friend in the hospital after church. It is cold this morning! I was wearing shorts at 7 last night, it is 48 degrees now. I’m going to wear my big wool skirt to church. Very excited about AM Joy this morning!

28 at dawn, 40 now, heading for 55 and sunny which I totally appreciate for multiple reasons. Only got 2.5 KWHs yesterday, already have 1.25 today, and the m-t-d is 94. I don’t plan to do much outside today except bring in firewood as needed and fill the bird feeding station again this evening.
Got my new glasses yesterday and am still getting used to them. The lens is larger and so is the sidepiece on the frames. I’m starting to get used to that seeing-something-out-of-the-corner-of-my-eye and also needing to look through a different part of the lens to go from distance to computer to near/small print. When I’m looking through the proper part of the lens things are indeed clearer and I can read smaller print than I could with my old pair.
Not going to give up on being reinstated as long as my friends/family are working to get me back, but every day the Admins ignore my denial of accusation (as best as I can figure out what it is) and 2nd request for reinstatement the less likely it is to happen. Which is quite depressing. I go over there to read the diaries I’d normally be commenting in and maybe even writing, read the comments to see how my “families” are doing. Struggle like a butterfly on a pin to find a way to help…I’m fighting that depression and the sunshine will help – but I haven’t gotten up the energy to vacuum the house yet. Of course there’s a purring cat on my lap right now which comforting but also disinclining me to get out the vacuum cleaner. :) But I need to do it or I’ll be ankle-deep in cat fluff soon.
But I rejoiced in Aji & Wings’ wedding yesterday even though I couldn’t be at it physically nor comment in the diary about it – lit my candle and was there in spirit. And I totally rejoice in my families on other sites, Moose being the first site I was ever invited to. In that I am truly blessed, for my Moose family I truly thank goddess. Good morning, 48 and cloudy in Bellingham. I see a blustery winter sky outside my window today. RonK has been collecting leaves into big piles but the wind has spread them all around, so he’ll have even more fun collecting them all over again!
I am just about ready to sew the banding strips to the Dr. Who quilt blocks. Had I know that pinwheel blocks were so difficult to size I would have chosen another pattern. They are now made and squared but I’ll have to trim the character blocks to the same size so the whole thing will be slightly smaller than I had planned. Oh well, it’s a fun project and I’m learning a lot.

I will – although who to retweet to who’s not already retweeting it to me will be another matter :) – basically I’m waiting to set it up with one of my kids or grandkids walking me through to make sure I don’t do something stupid to give an opening to stalkers, spammers, or viruses (since I’ll be doing it on my computer). Tweeting is more than just retweeting – you share what you read in the news and follow people who have interests that coincide with yours. PLUS Twitter is a timeline. If someone you follow tweets something out at 5am and you start reading your Twitter feed at 10am, your retweet is more amplification. PLUS PLUS Twitter gives you the chance to talk to your peeps either via replies or in direct messages (“private” messages you can send to other twitterers). Best of all you can block or mute people who irritate you or attack you, something you don’t have on a privately owned web site whose moderators pick the winners and losers (like the Moose!) I follow cute pets and colors and my local sports teams as well as news sites and politicians. It is a fun way to follow the news and break out of my echo chamber.
There is a way to safely follow, though, and you are wise to work directly with your family to help you set it up. As with any link, if you follow it you can get infected.

A lot of people were horrified by the shitgibbon’s tweet saying that he wishes that three black basketball players had been left to rot in a Chinese prison because one of the young men’s father was insufficiently grateful to him. JHC! That is not how it works. He really thinks he was elected “king” when, really, he was not elected anything; the electoral college, a feature of our pro-slavery Constitution (heavily weighted to the old slave states where the power still rests with the white masters), voted him into office by the slimmest of margins, 80,000 votes in 3 states. I hope Republicans are proud of themselves for giving this peevish piece of shit power.
It sounds like the Senate might remove the repeal of the mandate from the tax bill in order to get Susan Collins’ vote. I guess sad trombone Sasse and Flake won’t take their disgust at the path the Republican Party took to power to limit that power. The tax bill is the biggest heist of middle income earnings in history. Even the craptastic Bush tax cut gave something to wage earners, a cut that was preserved by President Obama when those tax cuts were set to expire. This bill has permanent business cuts at the expense of temporary cuts on wages that will not result in net gains for anyone making less than $75,000 – and none at all for taxpayers in the states that have higher state and local taxes to pay for good government programs including education. Passage this week only sends it to reconciliation – and there are differences between the House and Senate versions – but that is one step too close to the precipice. All sorts of shenanigans can come out of a reconciliation committee and the House and Senate can then only vote up or down.
I can only hope that three Senators find the courage to call this bill what it is, a #TaxScam. For me, there is no one to call – Ron Johnson is exhibiting his single minded focus on improving the lives of the wealthy, the defining feature of his time in office. He won’t care what I say. I can only hope that the Republican Congressmen who voted to raise taxes on Wisconsinites by repealing the deductions for state and local taxes feel the heat. Every property owner in Wisconsin will see a net increase in taxes and every property owner will be reminded in 2018 ads.

Good morning, Moosekind! Brilliantly sunny day here, with a current temp. of 36 F., going up to 51 F. Going to make crockpot chicken soup with muffins for the family—Younger Son and the children are coming to dinner tonight.
Had the night from hell again—woke up at 2:50 a.m., could not get back to sleep, so read the new Will Robie novel from Baldacci. Pretty soon I’ll have a headache from lack of rest.
With DIL in New York to arrange her poor late father’s funeral, I’ll be picking up the kids from the school bus and day care today through Wednesday. Had Mr. Preschooler here yesterday while Miss Pink Cheeks attended a birthday party. He’s amazingly able to entertain himself now, the clever boy.
Ugh, I won’t mention the news. A certain fiendish person died after years in prison. Thing is as crazy as ever. I wish Mueller would round them all up and stuff them into Club Fed. Wouldn’t that be a nice Christmas present!

34 at dawn, 44 now, heading for 64, and sunny again. The 7.9 KWHs I got yesterday was the 2nd highest for the month. Be nice to do it again. :) The m-t-d is 101. Helps that most of the leaves are off the oak tree now. Production is starting earlier. A fully-leafed out oak tree casts some pretty dense shade.
Evil Ones being Evil and my bloody congresscritters are right up there being part of the Evil Gang – but when I get the opportunity (alone in the office) I’ll make my calls anyway. No change at DK as far as my situation is concerned. I’m very proud of my beloved family for trying to find ways to continue my community service there against the pushback of people who don’t like community service on political blogs. No comment about what I think of people who don’t like community service no matter where it is being done. (And if they came to me in trouble – as some of them have – I’d help them anyway – as I did.) Will hold the Good Thought for Right Outcome and continue Channeling Good Energy throughout the web I am a part of.

A friend who teaches at Va Tech – where they do get Thanksgiving week off — said she had some students who didn’t show up for class last Thursday, because….. well, she didn’t get it

50ish here. Coming off a mostly great weekend volunteering at ragtime festival although I was sick on Saturday afternoon and had to leave early. Didn’t sleep well last night; premonition of something happening today, perhaps.

It is 45 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 37. The next week across the Midwest calls for above normal temperatures and —- NO PRECIPITATION!
It looks like this morning’s news is simply yesterday afternoon’s news so I can skim over it pretty quickly. I would have hoped that Washington DC would shut down for the holiday and give us blessed respite from the onslaught. It is beyond frustrating that the Tea Party movement, which sprang up out of “concern” over the deficit during the Obama Administration, has no concerns about the deficit now. Quelle surprise! So under a black Democratic president, deficits lead to ruin but under a white Republican president they lead to jobs jobs jobs. And Greatness. By the way, as expected, Ron Freaking Johnson is “now open” to voting yes. His ego just needed to be stroked and it looks like they must have found someone willing to do so. Collins, Murkowski, Corker, Flake, McCain – that is where the NOs will come from.

Good Tuesday morning, Moosekind! It’s 36 F. and fair this morning, going up to 58 F. later. Pork-and-apple pie for dinner tonight, although I expect Mr. Preschooler to demand “baby pizzas” for dinner as he did yesterday. Luckily I’ve lots of those in the freezer.
Might have to think about something other than news today, such as neglected correspondence and housework. I’ll be out most of Friday. With no coffee date tomorrow morning, I should be able to make some headway on the garage. And oh, my, in our neighborhood Black Friday is the day Christmas decorations go up!
With the recent deaths in the extended family I haven’t been able to think about marketing my book, but must get on it El Soon-oh. Wishing all at the Pond a peaceful day devoid of any but GOOD news.

Walked this morning — it’s chilly but not like yesterday. 1.42 miles, not bad. Was comfortable in long sleeves & a jacket. Going to the gym this evening to do the routine the trainer gave me while it’s still fresh in my mind. For now: oatmeal, tea & U2.

Good morning, MooseFam. 42 right now with a high of 48…a normal November day in Michigan. I’m recovering nicely from a moment of klutziness last Friday. Remember the opening of the old Dick van Dyke show where Rob falls over a hassock? Well, that was essentially me, but instead of bouncing back up, I sprained both wrists and jammed a few fingers. I look a bit like someone in the beginning stages of being wrapped as a mummy at the moment; ace bandages on both wrists and splinted fingers. But the swelling is way down, and as long as I don’t get stupid, I should be unwrapping myself by Friday. We’re not doing our holiday meal until Saturday, so the timing should work out, but I’ll be looking for someone at the grocery store to help load my turkey into my cart and then my car.
I’m very distressed by the news about kicking out Haitians. My cousin’s daughter is married to a Haitian national, and I don’t know his status (he’s family…that’s the only status I’ve ever needed to know). But beyond the possible personal ramifications, it’s the ongoing inhumanity that is making my blood boil. I’ve never bought into the myth of American exceptionalism, but I’m about ready to…exceptionally selfish and ugly.
{{{DoReMI}}} – Healing Energy, lots and lots of it. Clumsiness is one of the reasons I don’t have anything in my house I can trip over. Except cats of course. So far Cloud’s only managed to bring me down once with minimal damage. :)
There has always been a strain of evil – selfish, entitled, short-sighted greedy, racist, misogynist, xenophobic, homophobic. religious cultist, privileged (or wannabees), totalitarians – in America. Some groups came to America for the privilege to be just that – like the “Puritans” for example. Sometimes they get into power. When they do the result is always evil and usually illegal and/or unconstitutional. (See Jackson, Andrew – Trail of Tears.) The seriously evil are small in numbers (by percentage) but the law-abiding wannabees while still a minority are a much bigger chunk. When the truly evil get into power they enable the wannabees. That’s a lot of what we are seeing right now. But we still outnumber them – the political side of good people is that “sleeping giant” who is never particularly pleased about being woke.
The sleeping giant has been woke and will deal with the evil ones – but only enough so it can go back to sleep, alas. So we who are active good and stay woke need to harness the Power of the giant to get as much done as possible before it goes back into hibernation. As unfortunately it will.

I continue to believe that the majority of Americans are NOT okay with the shitgibbon’s worldview and that our problem is more mechanical than ideological: we have made it too easy to share our opinions via a phone survey and too difficult to share our opinions at the polls by voting. It is not enough to be decent, we have to do everything possible to make sure our elected officials reflect our values.
I hope you recover quickly! Your injury sounds both painful and awkward. I did admit to laughing when you described yourself as the mummy – that is exactly as I pictured you when you described your condition!
