Except I’d like to see him vacationing at Club Fed. He could play poker with that guy that did the ripoff hedge fun—brain not functioning fully yet—oh, yes, Madoff!
I am pretty certain he will not be president in 2020. I think either his inner circle talks him into resigning or his cabinet 25th Amendments him. What worries me about the latter is if it comes about because of a terrible calamity he visits on the country or the world. It would have to be ghastly for his Republican protectors to act.

We have mild weather — no sun, but it’ll get up to the 60s this afternoon. I have stuff thawed out for my 2 day work week. Went to the gym yesterday & I’m going again today. Watching local news, waiting for Joy Reid. Yesterday in the car, I kept repeating Little Things, beautiful song but disturbing lyrics. (“the end is not coming, the end is here”)

Good sunny Sunday morning, Meese! Brilliant blue sky and sunlight here in NoVa, with the current temp. at 3 F., going up to a whopping 24 F. later.
Rushing around like a mad thing to get ready for the Australians, who will be arriving at the bus station at 4:30 from New York (Goddess willin’ and the creek don’t git up). The family are coming over to greet them, so yrs truly is planning a paper-plate dinner with sandwich wraps and shrimp from Costco. I’ll make Chunky Vegetarian Vegetable Soup for the non-meat-eaters. Guess I’ll serve ice cream for dessert to the gluten-free: everyone else will have applesauce cake or mince pies.
Still enjoying reading Fire and Fury. If mah hair weren’t already curly as hail, it would be now. Dear GODDESS, what a vile creep we have in the WH, and as for his family, they’re just as bad as he is!

I was laughing at the people saying that there are errors in the book (wrong names and some timelines that don’t jibe). JHC on a popsicle stick!! They were just fine with complete lies being told in Clinton Cash and reported it all as fact. The bullshit book written about John Kerry’s Vietnam service was reported as fact. Live by the sword, die by the sword, right-wingers – you have made facts optional so good luck sorting out truth from lies from exaggeration.

34 was the low, 44 now which is probably it for the day. Very overcast – not “night-mode” overcast – producing but in driblets. Got 7.5 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d is 42.6 – had just brought the daily average back up to 7 but today is going to drop it again. Gotten a few sprinkles but the rain, what there is of it, is going north of us. As usual. sigh. Not as dry as Aji in NM or basket and WYgal in CA, but we also need water. My friend and I got some outside work done yesterday but there’s a lot left to do before we need to worry about finding someone with a big enough chainsaw (and the skill to use it) to cut up the trunk of the tree that fell into her backyard in Oct.
Nothing really new in the “outside world” – Rs still being evil both actively (taking food, healthcare…from regular folks and/or the planet) and passively (criminal neglect of Puerto Rico, USVI, Flint, fire-damaged areas…) and our job is still to resist, block, pushback and do the precinct-level organizing and GOTV to take back Congress. Also state and local offices. 2020 is a distraction we cannot afford – which is exactly why the MSM keeps bringing it up – but all too many are taking the bait.
Had a totally ridiculous but pleasant dream last night. That Denise had been flown in to do a totally-non-existent talk at the Chancellor Hotel (but paid for) which I didn’t know about until she tweeted the non-existence of the talk. It was after dark so I took a cab to the hotel and she and I sat on the (also non-existent) steps of the hotel overlooking the city and we talked until 4:30 am when the airport shuttle picked her up to fly her home. Which is also ridiculous because both of us would have fallen asleep where we sat before midnight. LOL. But it was still a lovely even though imaginary visit. :)
The laundry’s almost done so I’m heading to twitter to check on things and then to DK to read Denise’s diary (before or after hanging up the clothes). Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS]}}

Good morning, 44 and raining in Bellingham. I can take a deeper breath this morning, so I hope I cleared my airways with all the coughing I did last night. Apparently this dreadful flu/cold takes 2-3 weeks to resolve and I’m at 11 days and counting!

It is 28 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 30. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast.
I am trying hard to muster alarm that the Dotard has a short work day and spends 4-8 hours a day watching cable news. It is unlikely that this practice would make him an even worse, more out-of-touch person – he is already at peak idiocy. I am a bit perplexed about what they hope to accomplish by putting Stephen Miller in front of a camera. Does anyone really believe that Trump developed policy papers while he was on the campaign trail? I suspect that this is all to set up the Media Shame awards Trump is planning. Put an obvious liar on TV, have CNN kick him off the set, CNN=Fake News. Voila. I think the American people are getting weary of this schtick. I hope that translates into tuning out the 24/7 Trump-is-a-Buffoon Show and focusing on Republicans Want to Kill Us. The former is a waste of time, the latter is the Resistance.

That’s it exactly – the buffoon show is going precisely to distract us from the “Rs Want to Kill Us” – actually “Rs Are Trying to Kill Us” – and that’s why they will never get rid of him. As bad as it’s been, there’s a whole lot more damage they want to do. Preferably undercover so they can blame the Dems when America finds out. So a large part of the Resistance is to ignore mad king donald and focus on at least making public what the Rs are trying to do – and blocking when we can. {{{HUGS}}}
Warming up again — I just needed a sweater this morning & it’ll get up in the 60s this afternoon. Had an awful night’s sleep. I thought my afternoon workout would have helped. Sigh. At least it’s Mon/Thursday; a 2 day workweek rocks. I shouldn’t be listening to dreamy music but my head is playing Book Of Your Heart. One of my fellow U2 friends’ reaction to this song was :” what sorcery is this?”; I swear there’s something addictive in it, it is really lush & gorgeous.

My credit union posted a thing on FB about Monday morning before coffee. I replied with a comment about how I made my tea super strong with tea concentrate, and even so it isn’t strong enough. Ha!. At least this is a short work week.

I’m still getting used to not going to work. This is the first Monday of my actual retirement. While I haven’t been to work since I walked out the door on 12/21/17 it was all holiday until 1/2/18. LOL. But yeah, I know that “not enough caffeine in the world” feeling. Enjoy your short work week. :)
Good gray Monday morning, Meese! We’re having a heat wave in NoVa too—19 F. right now, going up to 37 F. Fairfax County schools are closed because of some very nasty freezing rain and ice predicted to start falling by noon.
The Australians are still asleep in the spare bedroom. It’s torrid high summer in Oz, so being in New York last week with horrid freezing temps and snow has been really hard on them. We had a big family party to meet them last night, so today we’re just going to have an easy day.
Miss Pink Cheeks will arrive momentarily to spend the day, so I’ve got to feed her breakfast and rush out to go shopping before the freezing ice falls. Wishing all a good day!

I spent my not quite 3 years in San Francisco where nothing is ever normal. :) Periodically I’d ride the BART out to the end of the line and eat my lunch at the el stop just to get some warmth and sunshine. LOL That’s one of the main reasons I left SF. moar {{{HUGS}}}
33 (windchill 25) at dawn and pretty much still – we’re not quite socked in with fog – my PV system is generating in driblets again – but sunny it ain’t. Heading for 40 or so. Won’t get much higher if the sun doesn’t burn off the fog. I got under 1 KWH yesterday – m-t-d is 43.6 – which is no way to make the hoped-for monthly total of 235 or so. But it’s early yet. We shall see what we shall see.
I know the MSM is paid to toss out distractors on a daily basis but I really wish our team would quit taking the bait. Yes, Oprah is wonderful. No, Oprah shouldn’t run for president. But why the hell are you wasting time on 2020 when we got a Congress to win back first? Sigh. As to the Rs – nothing new. Trying to kill us overtly or covertly. Focus, people, focus. We’ve got to a job to do. 2020 mind games ain’t it. (which of course tells you I’ve been spending time on twitter. sigh)

We’re having a veritable heat wave here in MI; the morning started at 32 with a projected high of 36; on Thursday, they’re talking about 50! It may be time to fold the down comforter (just to the bottom of the bed…I know this is a brief respite). On the other hand, we got about 2″ of snow overnight, and because of the temps, it’s what I call heart-attack snow – wet and heavy. I’m hoping that by the time I get home from work tonight, a good bit of it will have melted so my shoveling chores aren’t too overwhelming.
I didn’t watch the Golden Globes last night, but I have watched Oprah’s speech and seen the reaction on Twitter. I’m with bfitz: no, Oprah shouldn’t run for president. I could see her being an ambassador someday, but I want policy wonks, not celebrities. I too like Chris Murphy; he’s been steady and forceful, although not receiving much attention. But mostly I’m focused on keeping Debbie Stabenow in the Senate this year and getting our WONDERFUL SoS candidate, Jocelyn Benson, the nomination and then voted into office. I hope the Dem primary for governor here stays clean, because we can’t afford to let [my third cousin] Bill Schuette, the current AG, homophobe, and R candidate for governor, anywhere near the official residence. Sometimes blood is NOT thicker than water.
{{{DoReMI}}} – if you get sunshine with the above freezing temp your 2″ should be gone by the time you get home. It would be here anyway. We’re looking at low 50s for the next 3 days then it’s gonna drop like a rock Thursday after dark – maybe 35 on Friday – so while I don’t have my top-most layer on my bed at the moment, it’s handy. :)

I hear ya on relatives – most of my blood kin who are Rs are just very gullible/manipulable but they married evil ones. sigh. The blue wave that is gathering force for 2018 is helping some of our leaning-blue Senate races become more solidly blue. I just saw that Cook Political moved Tim Kaine to “will only lose his seat if he is exposed as an axe murderer”. I hope that Debbie Stabenow’s chances improve, as well. We will have a Battle Royale in Wisconsin – the Republicans are pouring cash into the campaigns of people hoping to unseat Tammy Baldwin. They might win because Wisconsin gets redder every election cycle as smart people leave in disgust at what the Republicans are doing to education and the environment.
I love Debbie, but she does have a play-it-safe side that concerns me a bit. Her last vote for the CR (without DACA protections) is a case in point. I understood it (and the email she sent after the vote was the first time I’ve ever seen her reveal her inner self; her anguish was clearly real). But in Macomb County, where I live, there are a lot of leftover Purity voters, as well as a lot of Purity-voters-who-are-just-hiding-their-racism. I’m not a prognosticator, so I have no idea if her vote will a) be remembered; b) be viewed as selling out; or c) be viewed as acceptable because who cares about brown people anyway? Areas of PA are often described as Pennsyltucky, but her in MI, we have Michississippi. At this point, I think the thing that’s going to help Debbie the most is that our statewide offices will be on the ballot too, and that will drive turnout. Even former Bernie supporters loathe Snyder and will likely vote for the Democratic candidate (although many don’t support Gretchen Whitmer, the current front-runner in the primaries). And Jocelyn Benson, the likely SoS candidate, is well-beloved by Dems across the board; she’s a warrior for voting rights and voting modernization, which we desperately need in MI. All of this is just a long-winded way of saying, “Turn out, turn out, turn out.”

It is 25 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 37. This will be the first time over freezing this year.
There is really no limit to the cruelty that Republicans will inflict upon non-white people – and their families – living in our country. Kicking out 200,000 Salvadorians and separating parents from children and spouses from each other is just the latest. I am not sure what horrifies me more – that this is happening or that there is a constituency for this action, people who will vote for the party doing this because it matches their worldview. I do not want to be near those kinds of people.
Congress is talking about kicking the Continuing Resolution down the road again because they can’t come to an agreement on DREAMers and walls. Democrats are going to have to make a stand soon. Already 15,000 DACA kids have lost protection and thousands more lose it every day. If they give up the CR as a bargaining chip, they have nothing. Shutting down the government to save the lives of 800,000 young people is fine with me; letting them get deported goes against everything that Democrats stand for. #ShutItDown.

Tues/Friday. I can do this. Had another bad night’s sleep, but I only have to keep it together until 5. Allergies are really awful & will get worse. When we have sunny, windy days it makes the damned cedar trees really happy. Grrrrr. I got new earphones from a company I follow on Instagram — they had a contest over Christmas & I guess I won 1 of the days. So when I go to the gym on my days off, I’ll have nifty new earphones to listen to my music with. And I need to run the software update on my iPod anyway, might as well do it here while I’m not listening to anything. Remember, y’all: Love Is Bigger than Anything In It’s Way

Good morning, Meese. Fair in NoVa today, although the blue sky is partly obscured by white veils of cloud. Temperature at 9:39 a.m. is 28 F., going up to 44 F.
Got up at 5:30 this morning and discovered to my apoplectic fury that the Internet was down! After investigating, I discovered I could still tweet and that my iPad was functioning perfectly. I was mystified until the Australians woke up at 7:30. Turned out that my niece’s partner had turned off the wifi! It never occurred to me to look at the squiggly bit at the top of the screen because I was checking the hardware first. The poor guy thought he was doing the right thing because in Australia, apparently, one gets charged for every minute the wifi is on. Here, we pay a flat monthly rate. Anyway, I trust that we have solved that little problem.
Still in my dressing-gown. Hubby has gone to the doctor 11 miles away, Miss Pink Cheeks is here reveling in playing “Dog Sim” or something on the iPad, and I have to get dressed to take her to the bus stop. The County schools are on a two-hour delay this morning.
Haven’t had time to pay much attention to the news but am furious over DACA and PR. As Goddess is my witness, I hate Rethug legislators with a purple passion!

28 (windchill 19) at “dawn” – we’re socked in with fog again. But the system is generating so it could be – has been and will be again – worse. It cleared off enough yesterday that I got 7 KWHs, m-t-d is currently 51 with the not-quite 1 KWH generated so far today.
I really can neither list nor prioritize what angers me about the evils the Rs are doing. If it hurts people and/or the environment people need to live on/with – which is everything the Rs are going – it angers me. My only priority is what is going to kill people soonest – let’s block that. Then we can go to the next one. We’ve got to get Congress back – we’ll be able to start cleaning up as soon as we’re sworn in. We can’t make real progress without the White House, but we can block a lot of damage with Congress alone. As we proved after the 2006 elections.
