Good morning meese…
I’m pissed off so I’ve got very little of anything constructive to say and since every other word would be fuck or something similar I’ll refrain from venting this morning…
THEY DID IT!!! The South Carolina legislature adjourned a two-year session without passing one @NRA-supported gun bill, thanks to opposition from @MomsDemand volunteers who held a statehouse advocacy day; testified at hearings; and flooded lawmakers with calls and emails. https://t.co/O1Ybdho6Ll

Fuck you Ghoulini…
Rudy Giuliani 'forced out' from his law firm Greenberg Trauric — which was embarrassed by his total train-wreck TV interviews for criminal con-man Trump https://t.co/icVWwzaZb1

The grifters keep on grifting…
"As a federally elected official, @SpeakerRyan is not permitted to solicit seven-figure political donations." Yet he did it anyway, sort of, in a secret meeting that's since become public knowledge. #Corruption run amok. https://t.co/l0tq7LFz7M

Thread…Ominous in it’s scope…
Stay with me here but I have the sneaking suspicion, based on the last two yrs of zero meaningful consequences for him, that the result of Trump’s personal lawyer receiving millions of dollars worth of “consulting fees” (obvs not on *behalf* of POTUS?!) will be jack-diddly-all.

That’s all folks!
Have a great weekend!
Fire away!!!
Morning meese…Already hitting 75 and humid…supposed to get up to 93…ugh!
Give em hell, Auntie Maxine!!!!
Good morning, Batch, and thanks for the threads. I’ll read them later. Sorry to hear you’re”po’d” and hope you feel better soon.
84 today. I’ll take it. Anytime you hit 90+, it’s considered summer. And I’m not ready. What I am ready for is more coffee.
{{{WYgal}}} Enjoy your coffee and the “cooler” weather. moar {{{HUGS}}}
I’m heading to The Kiddo’s today for a weekend of moving boxes and some furniture to the(ir) new apartment and fitting costumes at Sunday’s rehearsal. It’s going to be in the mid-80s in OH; I may go into shock since we’re expecting a high of 52 in MI today. I guess I’ll have to drink plenty of ahem lemonade at the end of the day. (Not to worry; I’ll stick to water during the work part of the day.)
I’m angry too about the ongoing clusterf**k that is our current government, but for now at least, I’ve reached a new level of “zen” about it all. Last night, Amy Siskind tweeted about the years, if not decades, of repair we face post-kakistocracy, and I actually found myself responding with hope. We can never forget that the supporters of the current regime are vocal and obnoxious, but they are a minority.
In my circles, I’m seeing more and more people slowly, but surely, waking up to the fact that their understanding of what makes America great has been built on a foundation of myths. One of my most apolitical (but voting) friends texted me out of the blue the other day and said, “We’re still fighting the Civil War, aren’t we?”; apparently she had just heard about the incident at Yale. I’m not so optimistic as to believe that this represents a sea change in attitude, but these baby steps are still steps forward. People like her just believe in common decency and fairness, and they’re seeing that attacked. Those are the people who will be our allies when we can start patching the breaches, and some of those people will be by our side when we can build new, stronger, and reality-based foundations.
I am with you on feeling more optimistic. I said to Batch the other day that these cabinet appointees that are being vetted now won’t have a job in a year and a half. We have the law on our side. I hate that they’re getting some of those lower courts and appeals court vacancies, but we will clean this up.
Have a “lemonade” for me and don’t work too hard.
{{{DoReMI}}} – have fun and don’t hurt yourself. Drink real lemonade or limeade during the day – electrolytes or whatever they’re calling them these days – you can add booze if you so desire once you’ve finished working. LOL.
I too have a little hope – the majority of Americans (even white people) are decent and understand the concept of fairness. They are beginning to wake up. I doubt they will ever go as far as to become allies to POC, but they won’t be enemies – and they probably will be come our (pragmatic progressive white people) allies in getting rid of the Deplorables and repairing the damage. If we’re subtle about it I think we can slip in some stuff for the betterment of all, including POC, they wouldn’t vote for under “normal” conditions – but the current conditions aren’t normal. I’ve always used WWII analogies for this situation we’re in and I think they’re still valid. We took a lot of damage – especially the allies in general, not just the US in particular – before we reached the turning point and there was half again as much war after the turning point than before it. I think we’re beyond the turning point. Still a lot of war to go and a lot of damage that comes with it, but those victory gardens are being planted and the “Rosie the Riveter” spirit is abounding. The next issue will be “winning the peace” once we’re back in power.
Safe travels & a Happy Mother’s Day. moar {{{HUGS}}}
{{{Batch}}} – thanks for the round up – RT’d some, had already RT’d others – and understand your being P.O.d – that’s basically life these days. Healing Energy. Holding the Good Thought for you – and also the cat/kitten situation. moar {{{HUGS}}}
