Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: Mar. 15th through Mar. 21st

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will now split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the link.

  1. Saturday Meese. 38 going up to 47 here in Saugerties NY.

    • I saw that yesterday – and thought it wonderful that everyone is bringing their Traditions to help in this emergency that’s going go on long enough to become the new normal. We need us all now. (Especially w/ magats out there infecting everybody they can get near.) {{{HUGS}}}

  2. Chilly morning, and it won’t get out of the 50s today. And rain. So it’s a good day to be home. Didn’t get in a walk yesterday, will be listening for breaks in the rain to see if I can today. Still no word about the symptomatic person at work, or if we’re going to work next week. For now, I’m watching Ali Velshi on MSNBC (he is really good) and eating breakfast. There is no traffic noise at all. Sure, it’s early Saturday morning, but there’s usually at least some traffic. Silence is unnerving.

  3. an epic rant from an authot I follow:

  4. The sun is shining, burning the frost off everything and the PV system is already generating at a higher rate than it did for the whole day yesterday. Sunshine’s the best mood lifter out there – and so needed. It’s just above freezing but we’re going to mid 50s today. With the sun shining I may even get outside and do a few things. Not that I can do much but what little I can is also helpful. We got a little over 3.5 yesterday and the m-t-d is 187 so my usage for the month is covered and we shall see what we can bank for A/C season. Or next winter if I don’t turn on the A/C this year. If the sun stays out we might get 15 today which would really be nice.

    Probably because I’m retired and wasn’t doing a lot of running anyway I’m adjusting fairly well to self-quarantine. New normal and all that. A whole lot of this really will become the new normal as much as folks don’t think so and keep talking about getting back to the way we were before we knew about the pandemic. Some of it will come back of course. But a bunch of it won’t. I’m concerned about folks. Amelia still hasn’t been to the doctor so doesn’t have her meds. She’s still fighting the pneumonia she’s had for almost 8 weeks. We’re beginning to wonder if it is pneumonia. But she is over the worst of it so even if it was covid-19 it obviously didn’t kill her. But without her med she can’t concentrate and she really needs to be doing some stuff right now that she can’t under the circumstances. sigh. Aji’s having the bad episodes again. I’m hoping it’s added stress and will dial back down to less scary and painful once they’ve been isolated from people for a few weeks. (Actually I’m hoping it’ll dial back down immediately but apparently that’s not happening.) Other folks are hanging in there. We’re all doing our best. Our team is anyway.

    Hoping my son will be over today with my milk. I’ve got just enough for another mug of coffee and that’s it. I should be fine until sometime in April once I’ve got my milk (and more carrots if he has time to deal with that). Gonna go do my internet stuff once I get that mug of coffee. LOL. Healing/Helping Energy to everybody. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}

  5. Good morning, 36 and light clouds in Bellingham. Our son is still sick but after multiple phone calls a diligent nurse at his Dr.’s office may have secured a test for him. At this point testing doesn’t really matter for his recovery but it would give him peace of mind to know he may have some immunity. It’s hard to be quarantined and not be able to physically be together and help each other. He was feeling ok when I talked to him last night but I’ll worry until I hear his voice this morning.

    I drove past Joe’s Gardens yesterday just to see the flowering plants. I didn’t stop but may go back today with Ron. I can keep a safe distance in the plant area but paying for a purchase is risky for me. Ron’s got the keep your distance and use a Clorox wipe drill down.

    Best wishes to all on this spring day where flowers are blooming in spite of COVID worries.
