Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool, shown here with 3 pages of comments available.

Good morning, Moosekind! We’re having another gorgeous October day here in NoVa (rinse, repeat), with a current temp. of 46 F. on its way up to 71 F.
I’m about to dash off to Trader Joe’s, as Karl will arrive at teatime for an overnight and Ethan will be arriving tomorrow at noon. Have to buy little boy-type food. They like very few articles of diet.
Keep hoping to hear that Thing is in a coma. Sorry if that’s reprehensible, but, ah, there it is.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and a crappeh day to the Rethugs beyond.
I don’t think of wishing Trump or any of his minions ill as being the karma-calling kind of thing. We’re not wishing them ill in order for us to gain, it’s for the betterment of the world.
Good morning, 64 and cloudy in Bellingham. So my new wish/curse is that tRump gets vertigo and can’t move or talk without his world spinning out of control. I was better yesterday but not able to do much so I’ll proceed with caution today. I’ve been passing time listening to Steven Erickson discuss his Malazan series…just closing my eyes and letting his words flow by. I stopped reading the books when the events became to trumpian but now that it looks like his power is ebbing I’m ready to finish the last two books.
High fantasy is a fun escape from reality, but in real life I’ve got desk work and laundry to get done so I’d best get at it.
Best wishes to all.
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 66 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 68. Sunny skies are in the forecast.
The second presidential debate was cancelled. Good news for America! Joe Biden will do a televised town hall on ABC that night and will interact with reasonable people and ones not infected with a deadly virus. That tRump’s doctor “cleared him” is a complete joke. Don’t these people get that when you destroy your credibility and compromise your integrity it is gone forever? I think a lot of people touched by tRump will realize #ETTD – Everything Trump Touches Dies. Republican electeds are now distancing themselves from him – I hope it is too late for them to pretend they never heard of him or did not support him 100%. The press needs to remind people that every Republican Senator except two has vowed to put Trump’s election ratfking justice on the Supreme Court in the hopes that democracy can be thwarted once again. Don’t let them get away with the lies!
I have a stack of to-do notes to sort through and some leisurely projects to work on. I hope to quit early and put my feet up – I feel like I have been running on fumes lately. Or maybe the stress from the election season is sapping my energy. We need for this long national nightmare to be over.
See all y’all later!
Someone should charge his raggedy ass with murder – 9 people in Bemidji MN got sick after his rally there, two are still in the hospital, one in ICU.
Saturday Meese. 52 in Kingston NY going up to 79.
Auntie Maxine
I love Auntie Maxine! Calling Kamala a monster was to give his hateful followers permission to hurt her. I hope the disease he called a hoax and pooh-poohed for 9 months sidelines him again – karma, we are waiting for you!!!
Puerto Rico
In from my walk/run. Very slow progress — today I’m counting doing the same as Thursday despite a really bad night’s sleep. It’s going to be a hot weekend, mid-90s today, and hotter tomorrow. Today: just got to buy groceries, and maybe a nap.
Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 59 F. and cloudy today, going up to 75 F. later. We may have rain tomorrow.
No one texted me during the night that Thing was in a coma. (Sob!) Breakfast has been had, although Karl didn’t eat his baby pancakes. The reason? The raspberry jam had lumps in it. Dark, tiny, sinister-looking lumps that may have been a black widow’s children. We tried to explain that the lumps were bits of actual raspberry, but he wasn’t having it. Instead he had two lots of whipped cream on his hot chocolate. Kids!
Well, so far he’s been a very good boy. What a difference there is between the ages of six and five!
Feel a bit bleary-eyed this morning, owing to five hours’ sleep. Does anyone else feel as if on tenterhooks, waiting for something BIG to happen? Like Thing falling off the balcony where he’s giving another “Evita” address?
I’m expecting little Ethan to arrive at noon. The boys can have lunch and then play until Younger Son picks up Karl, who has an online class from 3 until 4 today.
Feeling very tired so I might have a little rest soon.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
It’S 57 heading for 87 and sort of lightly overcast. The sun’s trying to break through. I’m not sure how well it will manage. We generated 8.8 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d is a still-on-track 110.
Like everybody else, my night was not good. A little bit of rain just at dawn did put me to sleep though so I picked up a couple of hours – and am late checking in. The stress is building up. Election stress is greater than even 2016 – we knew Hillary really was the only thing standing between us and Evil but now we’re 4 years into the evil and this is our last shot at stopping before we go over the cliff. Add pandemic and recession. Yeah, we’re all waiting for the bomb to drop. Praying the damage will be less than we fear.
Meanwhile we keep on keeping on. Dealing with daily life. Helping with whatever we can wherever we can. And finding beauty, taking comfort in friendship, where we can. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, 56 and mostly cloudy, with real rain in the night. The familiar weather pattern is comforting in this unsettling tRump time were living in. Nervously counting the days until the election isn’t helping anything but that’s what I’m doing anyway.
I’ve got a housekeeping day ahead with plenty of laundry to keep me busy. Sometimes mindless tasks are welcome! Best wishes to all.
