Good morning. Feeling bad for Louisiana, going to get hit with a hurricane on the anniversary of Katrina. Wish it would take a westward tack & hit us instead, but the weather people seem very certain. Today: work till 3:30 then pick up my groceries. I’m so grateful that the grocery chain here doesn’t have a surcharge for curbside.

It’s 72 and going up to a very slightly cooler 92 today. Even the heat index isn’t supposed to hit 100. (We’ll see about that.) Mostly sunny. Of course yesterday was also mostly sunny and we only got 12.88 KWHs generated. (M-t-d is 373.38 so over 400 is very likely – but 450 isn’t.)
At least we’re getting enough sun to help me fight the depression. & I need help fighting off the depression. COVID’s on the rise and we aren’t managing to do much about it even when we have politicians who want to. And so very many of us don’t have politicians who want to. The Afghanistan situation is Deplorable – and was always going to be. From the minute we had “boots on the ground” this end was as sure as the sunset. & my friends. . . right now especially Jill. “They” are still harassing her – yesterday the sinister shiny black Esplanade SUV tried to get to her place but fortunately there was a Sheriff’s deputy close enough by to turn it back. & she still has no way out of a deadly situation. Nobody but her close circle of friends understands how deadly it is. The Sheriff’s office has recommended she leave for her safety. They aren’t going to help her do so, but they have recommended it. & all the places she’s turned to for help seem to think she’s exaggerating – even with the Sheriff’s recommendation – and aren’t offering much of anything except “oh, that’s too bad.” But my bolt is shot. And there’s Amelia’s Sept rent coming on the 6th. Amelia can’t get up enough energy to shower, much less fundraise. Even if anybody would respond. Aji’s family situation is more serious than it looks. The county’s COVID rate is going up fast, the child has health issues & must be homeschooled, the mom’s housekeeping business is dangerous now (the kind of people who can afford a housekeeper out there are the ones who don’t vax or mask) even if she didn’t need to stay home to homeschool her son so she needs to start that home/online business. So the ask – to cover 2 laptops, a camera, and a cell phone – doesn’t seem urgent. But it is. We all need to stay safe – vaxxed, masked, stay in as much as possible – but we at least have safe, secure, and reasonably comfortable housing. Jill and Amelia don’t. Prayers. Good Thoughts. Whatever.

Drinking water, a major concern in Haiti two weeks after the earthquake
Good morning. We have a 50% chance of rain even though we’re on the dry side of the hurricane. Weird. I have to leave the house today because I forgot mushrooms when I picked up my groceries yesterday. They are such a staple for me I can’t believe I forgot. When I get home from that I’ll make next week’s dinner of pasta & veggies.
It’s 70 heading for 89 & the heat index isn’t supposed to get above 95. Sunny at the moment. I was able to open up the house by 11 pm (yes I’d gone to bed, no I wasn’t able to sleep) but will still have to close up by 9 to keep the coolth in. But I may not need to run the A/C today. I hope. We generated 14.23 KWHs yesterday and with the m-t-d at 387.64 we should reach 400 by end of day with 3 more production days in August.
Today’s my brother’s 66th birthday. I haven’t talked to him in over a year but I sent him a card. That’s pretty much how my siblings & I “communicate” any more. When we communicate at all. We drifted apart when Momma died – and once I was away from them, no longer felt responsible for them as “oldest” – I could really look at what they said, felt, believed. And lost the desire to reconnect. But I always wish them well.
If anything’s changed for the better a far as my friends are concerned it’s a well-hidden secret from them as well as me. sigh. And way too much hasn’t as far as nation and world go. But at least we have decent people at the helm Yes, I very much worry about the folks in NOLA and surrounding areas with Hurricane Ida coming in. But I’m not as worried as I was with Katrina. There is a world of difference between a W-headed FEMA and a Biden-headed FEMA. Prayers up of course. Ida’s not a storm to dismiss. But good, caring, efficient people in charge helps.

Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 70 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 90. We had thunderstorms this morning and there is a chance of thunderstorms overnight. In between it will be hot and muggy.
The news is awful and I am going to ignore it and concentrate on my own small, semi-controllable existence for a while. I have a bunch of things I am trying to sort through including how to work with a dog who can no longer hear. :(

So sorry your doggie is losing hearing. It’s an adjustment for both of you. Heidi doesn’t hear well anymore, and Milo is deaf but has a very loud stare.
Good morning, 54 and partly cloudy in Bellingham. I’ve been spoiled with so many sunny mornings but now the familiar PNW grey skies have returned and the soft light lulls me back to sleep. It’s been a quiet week for me. I’ve recovered from the aftermath of shot #2 but I haven’t had much energy so my list feels long this morning.
