Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Saturday Meese. 27 (brrrr) going up to 47 here in Kingston.
Puerto Rico
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 36 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 48. Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast.
It should shock no one that Wisconsin’s failed democracy would shit out a judge (and a judgement) that would coddle a murderer. Goddess help those with the courage to continue to protest injustice who are now in the crosshairs of vigilante tourists. Law enforcement and the courts won’t protect you.
The Build Back Better bill will go the way of Nancy Pelosi’s and Barack Obama’s agenda during Democratic “control” of Congress in 2009 and 2010 – very nice packages of policy and much needed reforms that pass the House and will go to the Senate to die. It doesn’t hurt any less to know that is the pattern but it is certainly discouraging because we know that the next blow will be losing the House. Unless Americans get an epiphany and realize that the Republicans are willing to walk over their dead bodies to gain power, we are screwed.
Today I will finish up some projects that require big blocks of time that I don’t have during the week and then I will enjoy pre-Thanksgiving time with my family.
See all y’all later!
Good morning. Picking up my Thanksgiving groceries this morning. I’m having mushroom risotto & vegetarian “buffalo” nuggets; for dinner next week, it’s the pasta dish that’s like spinach-artichoke dip. I’ll go back to my efforts to lower my cholesterol after Thanksgiving.
It’s 45 heading for 63 and overcast. sigh. Yesterday we generated 6.87 KWHS bringing us to 117 for the m-t-d – still on track for 180, and just over what the 2.5K system did in ’14.
Expected but infuriating. That covers a lot of things of course but yesterday’s verdict is high on the list. The KKK-by-another-name is riding high again. And their members in law enforcement & judicial are making it very clear that racism is THEE foundation of their power. Just as Hitler Youth knew they could do anything they wanted to Jews, including kill them, MAGAt Youth know they can do anything they want to n-words and n-word-lovers, including kill them. That IS the MAGAt definition of “great”. And whether or not we can stop them and roll this back is as up in the air as whether or not we can stop global warming and roll it back.
I am not happy with my brain/memory right now. Thursday I spaced on Aji’s anniversary and yesterday I spaced on Black Kos. I remember checking the clock at 3:50 and thinking “10 more minutes” – I also remember as I was (finally) drifting off to sleep that I hadn’t done it.
So. Off to Twitter & to Black Kos & to whatever else I remember I was going to do online yesterday and didn’t. Then back to getting my house ready for a cleaner to come. And bake cookies. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, 40 and mostly cloudy in Bellingham. I expect rain showers today so will try to do some outdoor clean up while it’s relatively dry. I want to plant some white hellebores in the pots by the back entrance, as they will bloom all winter and it helps to counter the early darkness. And ready or not I’ve got to get serious about Tday prep.
Best wishes to all.
