Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Saturday Meese. 33 here in Kingston NY going up to 54 and no rain!
Had fun watching NCAA final four Women’s Basketball last night (hubby and I are big fans)
Puerto Rico
I hope the good side prevails. I’m so tired of stupid men telling women what to do.
Another gorgeous day here. 60s this morning to 80 this afternoon. Plan for today: pick up groceries, have something nice for lunch, walk this afternoon (must remember sunscreen). Watching the news, wondering when Ali Velshi sleeps — he’s doing Rachel Maddow’s hour at 8pm and he’s back on for his own show at 7am. Also, he’s in Ukraine, so currently mid-afternoon there & TRMS is late night/super early morning there.
Good Saturday morning, Meese. It’s a nice day for once, 42 F. and sunny, with little if any WIND. The high will be 59 F.
Need to look lively after I finish my coffee because I’m meeting a friend for lunch today. After that I must do a little shopping for tomorrow’s dinner.
Fell asleep again after dinner, despite the fact there was a rather good movie on about Alan Turing. That poor man. He didn’t deserve the treatment he received. It was the patriarchs that did it.
Nothing much to say except that I don’t see how I can get much heavier!
Wishing a nice Saturday to all at the Pond.
It’s 47 going to 67 today. And overcast. The PV system is on. So are my lights. Yesterday was a great start – 19.195 KWHs – but we’re not going to get anywhere near that today if it doesn’t clear off soon.
I’m doing better today than yesterday. Which is good for many reasons, including that I want to vacuum today. I got about 6 hours of sleep in 4 chunks with over an hour gap in the middle. And while still a little queasy I think it’s the sinusitis and not the COVID booster today. Hands are doing better and while I can’t say I’m warm I’m certainly not bone-chilled cold I was yesterday. So that’s good.
Looks like Jill’s husband may be dying for real this time. He called her from the hospital – basically dumped everything on her, as expected, and pissed off both hospital and hospice because he’d been refusing to let her know where he is or OKing her to get any information up until yesterday. No atheists in foxholes sort of thing. He knows she’ll take care of him on his way out. He just had to get in another 10 months of abuse before he left. An unfortunately well-documented behavior pattern with abusers who are terminal-case cancer patients. I haven’t heard much other than that on Jill. Amelia managed a shower but wasn’t sure she had the “spoons” to either cook the chicken or do the laundry. Much less both. Aji’s functioning well enough to get her usual posts out and to win her Wordle games. Only heaven knows how but thank heaven she is.
I need to do my twitter set-up stuff, get the rest of my treadmill time, and start picking up all the cat stuff so I can vacuum. Twitter first. Bright the day, Meeses. {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, 42 and partly cloudy outside my window today. So my early morning thought is what’s better……living in an apartment fondly remembering when I could work outside or waking up feeling like I do today because of actually working outside? We are indeed getting older and familiar tasks are harder but for now we’ll keep muddling along. Thankful we still have choices, and that our son can help us! Best wishes to all.
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 34 degrees in Madison with an expected daytime high of 41. It has been snowing all morning – heavy at times.
Quick check in. My day started a little later than usual and then I had a mid-morning crisis: I need to get my car in for some deferred maintenance and no one had appointments until the middle of the week which would pose a scheduling problem. I found someone willing to take me on Monday so all is good.
Now, back to work.
See all y’all later!
