Good morning. I’ve got tea steeping & laundry drying. Yesterday I made lunch & dinner for the week. I feel so efficient. Oh, and I walked 1.4 mi. Eating breakfast & watching the news.

It’s 51 heading for 61 and overcast. We got a 1/2″ rain a little after midnight and we’re supposed to get more after dark this evening, so of course it has to stay cloudy in between as well. sigh. We generated 7.4 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d is at 181. We’ve 3 production days left in February so getting over 200 is very possible. IF the clouds will quit blocking the sun.
Thank heavens for slip-nose pliers. After doing the Sunday chores my hand were/are so weak I wasn’t able to open the new jug of milk without them. At least they’re not very shaky. No problem pouring the milk once the jug was open. Anyway, the chores are done and breakfast is fixed, so I guess I’ll head over to twitter & do those chores to the music in Dee’s diary. {{{Meeses}}}
Good evening, Moose Peeps! After a rill ugly gray start to the morning (we even had mist), it turned sunny, beautiful, and mild. We had a high of 60 F. I chose to forego the treadmill and walk outside after tea. The weeping willows are already lime green, and the daffodils are out! Some poor, innocent trees are already putting forth white blossom, and where the forsythia is sheltered, it’s popping out yellowly all over.
Late to check-in today because I was working all out on the disability article for the quarterly. It’s due to the editors on March 1. The challenge was to portray the residents who use assistive mobility devices NOT as “the disabled,” but as residents living active intellectual and social lives, which they are. At the same time, I want readers to think about what these residents go through every single day, living in physical surroundings that are not designed with them in mind. I sent the first draft off early this afternoon to the residents I interviewed, so we’ll see what happens. I also went over the word limit. Gulp!
Feel very disinclined to do much this evening, other than putting a meal on the table. The day began beautifully when Dearly brought me a large mug of early morning tea. I sat up in bed, sipping it and slowly coming back to life, like a vampire that’s been allowed to rise at noon without being molested. How’s that for a simile?

We’re always telling people who use Talking Books that they are, indeed, reading. Don’t put airquotes around it. Listening to books is reading, especially if you can’t pick up a paper book and read it.

Good morning. Just 1 mile yesterday & this morning, but still better than no miles. It is warm. Like, short sleeves warm. I hope this isn’t a sign of summer to come.

It is 36 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 57. The skies are clear and the stars are shining – we should see the sun all day. Yesterday morning we got some snow flurries and the close-in mountains were coated with snow which melted by late morning after the sun came out. Mt. Lemmon, elevation 9,171, was getting snowed on throughout the day.
Musk laid off more people at Twitter and doubled down on being the ugliest face of white supremacy in America – do these guys not have a mirror or are they convinced that their white maleness blinds us to their ugliness? Scott Adams must have amassed a huge pot of money to be willing to blow up his cartoon franchise. One of the funniest Dilbert tech cartoons ever was years ago when he introduced the character Bob who was a COBOL programmer – and who was depicted as a dinosaur. That was me! He was probably a racist ahole back then as well but in a simpler time, it was not okay to be out and proud about it.
Busy day here as we only have 28 days in February this year and I really need 31 this month. I will put some articles in pocket and put my nose to the grindstone. We are having housing inspections for the next four days with people having the right to gain access to our apartment at any time all day long. It is one of my least favorite aspects of apartment living and this week it will be an incredible annoyance as the expectation of an any-minute interruption will make it difficult to do project work.

Just pop in with no warning? That’s worse than when my grandmother’s house doubled as the “model home” for a subdivision my grandfather was building in Houston. At least people had to make appointments to invade/examine the home for her. Holding the Good Thoughts {{{HUGS}}}
The law states that the landlord only has to give 48 hours notice and then can enter the apartment on the day specified. The notice is usually for all day with no appointments allowed because they are often visiting all the apartments or all the apartments in one of the buildings. So basically from 8am to 5pm we are waiting for them to show up. Yesterday’s thankfully was before 10am so I was able to get on with my day. Today’s is not even a for sure – the inspectors will choose the apartments that they will enter and we won’t know until they show up or 5pm whether we were chosen. Tomorrow’s and Thursday’s will be all the apartments but we won’t know which day ours will be inspected. Yes, it is a ginormous pain especially with a dog who needs extra care when strangers are literally afoot. I guess this is pretty typical for rentals, it just takes a bit of getting used to having been a home owner for over 40 years.
You’re definitely living in a higher class of apartment than I ever did. The only inspections I ever dealt with were at move in and move out, mostly to determine whether I’d get my deposit back. LOL. (I always did.)
Good Monday morning, Moosekind! We have a whitish-blue day, with dimmed sunlight and a mackerel sky. The current temp. in Ashburn is 38 F. It may rain. Then again, it may not.
Dearly is preparing to drive himself to Kaiser Reston. I’ll stay home and catch up on my correspondence. There are STILL changes to the article being requested, gods, I’m getting tired of it.
Well, seems as if Muskmelon has laid off a bunch more people from Twitter, so I suppose it’ll all be over before long. I’ll miss certain Twitter buddies.
I tried to DM bfitz last night on Twitter in the hope she’d tell me the tornadoes were nowhere near Fayetteville. On the news this morning it looked as if they were closer to Fort Smith. (Why has my external keyboard failed all of a sudden? I’m having to type this on my laptop keyboard.)

It’s 53 heading for 69 – gonna pretend to be Spring for a few days – and sunny. Yay! For sunny. We barely got 2 KWHs yesterday but the m-t-d is 183 so 2 sunny days can still take us over 200 for the month. We shall see what we shall see.
I need to go to the store today – eggs and other baking supplies – but I’ll wait until this afternoon when it will be warm enough the winds won’t be an issue. Which they are at the moment. As far as I know everybody’s trucking along. The host for NDN Silver website managed to fix the server issue so Aji only has to deal with the required upgrades. Basket’s managing, dealing with all the things that have to be done when somebody leaves this mortal realm and being supported online and off by folks who care for him and are making sure he knows it. I hope that helps. My friend here is being faced with the reality of retirement funds in a colonizer society – the ones that have any kind of decent return are 1) invested in companies that do things no caring person wants to be associated with much less profit from & 2) are about as secure as a house of cards when the Power Players start manipulating the Market to influence elections. I managed to stay with a “socially responsible” option – which does earn less but not all that much less – but it’s still with a company that has mostly not socially responsible options and it still is at the mercy of a manipulated Market. I don’t have the responsibilities or the debt she does however.
About time to wrap up another month on my spreadsheets. But first off to twitter mostly and other online venues some. {{{Meeses}}}
It is a quandary, indeed. I have a choice of mutual funds that are picked for investment return style – aggressive, balanced, income preservation – I am pretty sure I do not have a choice related to ESG but I have not looked at it in a while. I have a mix of balanced and income preservation and I ignore the portfolio makeup because I don’t want to freak out over every news article and just have to hope that the fund managers are sensible and diligent. Many years ago, I used to pay more attention and always chose the wrong thing to do when the market was fluctuating or news was good or bad for the stock market. Life is literally too short.
Good morning, 31 and cloudy outside my window today. One more day of cold with rain and snow showers and then the temps should be back in the 40’s again. We went to an event at a garden shop yesterday and talked with native plant pros, composting and worm experts, a garden décor artists. We came home with a new pot for the front porch, blooming amaryllis for both porches, and a very cool wire cloche to protect the newly planted rhubarb from the ever munching deer. It was fun to see all the plants and have some creative gardening ideas start to surface. Best wishes to all.
What a wonderful way to embrace spring – visit a flower shop and plan your gardens! I was hearing a lot of birds singing on my morning walk yesterday and everyone seems ready for spring.

It is 39 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 57. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw the waxing gibbous moon in the northwest sky this morning peeking into my office and stars over my mountains to the east. We are going to have a storm system move into the area tomorrow evening and the weather guy said it could actually bring measurable snow all the way down to Nogales Thursday morning. March is coming in like a lion but not staying lionlike for very long with weekend highs back into the 70s. I think winter here is short bursts of cold and rain and rare snow flurries but definitely not the oppressive “when will it ever end?” that I remember from living in the upper Midwest. I can put up with the off and on winter when it doesn’t come with an inch of ice and 10 inches of snow and bitter subzero cold.
The news is a hot mess and I will ignore it. I have a few things to do to wrap up February and then I have to gear up for a few days of small, easily set aside projects. I have a box of papers ready to shred and six boxes of documents to sort for scanning shredding and/or storing. They have been sitting in a closet for almost a year waiting for me to find the time to sort through them. Last year they were just marked “move as is” when I ran out of time to sort/scan/shred before the move. I think they have aged long enough. :)

Good Tuesday morning, Meese! It’s 40 F. and ugly-looking in Ashburn this morning, but will cheer up to sunshine and 60 F. at sunset. Duhh! The cherry blossoms will show up quite early because of the unnaturally warm weather. We did get a tiny bit of rain yesterday about teatime, which brings us to 2 inches under what we should be for the year to date.
People are still wanting changes to the disability article. I am so DONE with it in my mind! I’ll get to work on it right after breakfast. Dearly went to see his dermatologist yesterday—she who is so beautiful that you only get 5 minutes with her because everyone else wants to look at her too—and she managed to carve up his face and forearm so much that he’s bleeding all over the place.
Don’t know if it will actually happen, but Nora is supposed to come over and help me with spring cleaning, for which I will pay her minimum wage ($15 an hour). She really wants those athletic shoes, to the point of learning to become a volleyball referee so she’ll earn $15 per game. Well, it’s time she learned that if you want something you need to work for it, right?
We’re Zooming tonight with our sister-in-law in Australia. She still travels around Oz with one or more of her four daughters. I sometimes wish I could still travel. Heard from my friend in Montreal, who insists on her daily walk even in the snow! Gods, it’s been four years since Nora and I were last in Montreal.
Well, time to get on with my day. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
Tuesday Meese. Snowstorm here continues but not much accumulation – somewhere between 3 and 7 inches. My husband had another mini stroke yesterday – he is now in hospital undergoing tests. Prayers welcomed.

Good morning. Another day with highs in the 80s, which is so wrong even for Texas this time of year. Going to get my walk in later this morning.
It’s 55 heading for 75 – definitely wrong for this time of year – and sunny. That’s a YAY for the last day of February anyway. Yesterday we did another highest production since last September (and possibly August, I didn’t check) at 13.47 KWHs and the m-t-d is 196.95 so we will definitely make the “over 200” goal for the month.
Grocery shopping yesterday for baking stuff. The cheapest brown eggs are $5 a dozen and surprisingly 20 cents cheaper than the cheapest white eggs. I’ll be baking peanut butter muffin bread this afternoon. If I were using a grain flour, that would make for a complete protein. Since the flour blend I use is mostly chickpea it won’t. It’ll be missing whichever amino acid legumes don’t have. Since I mostly eat oatmeal for breakfast and I have my “muffin” around 2 hours later, hopefully they’ll combine in my digestive system. LOL.
I haven’t checked on anybody yet. As best I know they’re still trucking along. Not worse even if not better and all that. Holding the Good Thoughts. And off to twitter. {{{Meeses}}}
bfitz, read an article by a cardiologist that said chickpeas were one of the 7 best things you can eat. The others were berries, apples, salmon, and kale (ugh). Because Dearly has to take warfarin, he can’t have very many leafy greens, including kale.
Well, I eat berries fairly regularly right now – I make a berry fruit crisp 3 or 4 times a week in the cooler weather – and I put 1/2 cup applesauce in my muffin bread. Can’t do kale though. The only cole crop I can eat regularly is the one with the least nutritional punch – cabbage. LOL. Healing Energy to your household & {{{Diana}}}
