Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good morning, 43 and rain showers outside my window today. But I can see faint green buds on my old maple trees so I know spring is coming. It’s just cold and wet this year. I continue to feel better but still have to be very careful re chewing. The extractions sites have healed but the TMJ still needs time so I’m trying to be patient.
Best wishes to all.
Saturday Meese. 51 going up to 71 with rain here in Kingston.
Puerto Rico
Good morning. Today’s the AIDS Ride — I’ll go to the gym & do 11 miles on a stationary bike. Currently eating breakfast & watching the news. I still have pasta salad in the freezer for next week, so I don’t have to cook this weekend, yay!
Good morning, meese! Saturday …
It is 63 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 86. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The moon is a thin waxing crescent but with moonrise after sunrise, I have not had a chance to see her yet.
So I guess there were enough MAGAt justices who decided that U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk is NOT one of the “state’s elected representatives” who Alito promised would be the new deciderers of abortion rights after Dobbs. Of course, Merchant of Death Alito and Harlan’s Pal Thomas dissented but it may be possible that even Keggernaugh and Mrs. Jesse Barrett are embarrassed about the hypocrisy that would be exposed if they were to uphold judicial overreach which they claimed to be ending. It is sad that people are just now caring that Kacsmaryk is turning out to be a lying pile of garbage who deceived the Senate (Murkowski’s “he tricked me!” is malpractice) and likely corrupt as well. The rush to fill the federal judiciary with the worst of the worst will be one of the most intractable legacies of tRump and his political party. And for crying out loud, resign, Senator Feinstein, so we can undo this mess! Your need to stay in the Senate for 20 more months is overridden by the urgency of judicial confirmations – don’t let your own legacy be destroyed by your stubbornness.
Students in Florida are walking out and have vowed to teach themselves about LGBT and Black history in defiance of DeSlimetis’ bans and a retired Navy officer is pushing back against what he is calling Florida’s fascist book bans:
Maybe there is hope for Florida.
I got up a little later than I wanted to and I have to catch up on deferred projects today. Some things can only be done during the work week which pushes a lot of things to the weekend.
See all y’all later!
It’s 45 and might get to 60 depending on when the clouds predicted for this afternoon actually show up. Back to fire-in-the-evenings weather. Yesterday we managed to generate 16 KWHs and ended the day with 308.95 for the m-t-d. So on track and even gained a little back.
Seems what upset Amelia/earicicle Thursday, in addition to making already stressful phone calls for information requiring a human and never reaching a human, was a gawdawful-early-for-her 8:30 am phone call from the ortho office telling her how much the copay will be for the shots in her bone-on-bone knees. (Too much.) Yesterday’s telehealth visit with the mental health doctor went very well and, presupposing the pharmacy has it (there’s a “but it’s addictive, don’t make so much” shortage), she should be back on one of the most important ADHD meds soon. I forgot to call Fineena last night until it was too late but it appears her laptop is dead and her internet still intermittent. No news on anybody else.
My hands aren’t happy. Neither are my eyes for that matter. The drop in temps hasn’t stopped the pollen. Oh well. Off to twitter and Spoutible. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Saturday morning, Meese. It’s 70 F. at 10:19 a.m. and clouds are starting to roll in. We may receive three drops of rain.
Je suis the Queen of Vagueness. I thought my Karate for Seniors class was starting today, but it’s April 29! Good, because I had an awful night, and I also seem to have a tummy upset. Applesauce and toast for breakfast this morning.
After a little rest, I’m hoping for a writing day. That would be so nice!
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Hi meese. It’s 55 going up to 83. Not a day for a lot of outdoor activities
Good morning, 49 and cloudy in my garden today. RonK is going to the land trust property he oversees to cut down an errant holly tree and I’m going to wander around the garden and see what I can do. Thanks to Sue’s help yesterday my housekeeping lists are much shorter, and I’m very grateful. Best wishes to all.
