Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: May 28th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It’s 66 going to 84 and sunny at the moment. Supposed to get clouds and rain fairly soon according to the widget. I believe the clouds. I’ll believe in the rain when it actually falls. Yesterday we generated 17.9 KWHs, not quite as good as Thursday but still on track for over 525. We’ll see what today brings. And what it doesn’t.

    The ceiling fan is on to help bring in some coolth. I’ll close up in another 5 degrees. Which should be shortly. Sinusitis flare again last night. Again nothing obvious. Hands are mostly OK this morning. They’ll get better as the day warms up. Meanwhile, I’d best get to my boosting chores. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  2. Good Saturday morning, Meese. Would you believe I actually got my act together and went out with the Walking Club? First time since 2018. Quarantine has sadly diminished the number of walkers: this morning, including yrs truly, there were four. We left sharp at 8:15, as the leader doesn’t like to fool around waiting for latecomers.

    It’s already 76 F., sunny and blue skied, although clouds are gradually creeping over the blue. They said this would happen. Like Bfitz, I’ll believe the rain when I see it.

    I have karate at 10 a.m. Oh, Goddess, please let me not embarrass myself! Please let there be a newcomer who’s clumsier and more half-witted than I am! I love the idea of karate, though, and Goddess knows it’s good exercise.

    Tonight we are having some kind of Indian dinner I bought at Trader Joe’s yesterday, followed by fresh mango slices. TJ’s is so doctrinaire: you’re never supposed to want anything but dark chocolate, and you should never use anything but flat-leafed Italian parsley. Harrumph! I persuaded Dearly to drive me to Lowe’s yesterday where I bought two pretty pots of flowers, CURLY English parsley, and lavender, my favorite herb of all time. They’ve joined the thirsty mint and resilient rosemary on the screened porch.

    Had an absolutely wonderful time visiting my English friend yesterday! We talked for two hours and the time just slid away. She had made the most fabulous banana bread I’ve ever tasted, and served actual cream with the coffee! I’m talking heavy whipping cream, people, not half-and-half or light cream. My arteries are clogging up even as I write.

    Well, off to look at a few karate videos. I do wish I weren’t so clumsy.

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.

  3. Good morning, meeses. Saturday …

    It is 64 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 91. Sunny skies are in the forecast.

    I am trying to get projects – personal and business – organized better because things are being missed. My lists have lists and all of them are being ignored when I get distracted by Anything That Seems More Interesting Than What I Am Doing. So I need to get offline, stop reading daily news in real time and get things done.

    See all y’all later!

  4. Good morning, 62 and sunny in my garden today. Jan, my lists have list too and I seem to be ignoring all of them! Oh well, I eventually get the essentials done and the rest just waits or ages out. Today I want to buy some large ferns so the empty pots will have something growing in them until (or if) I add some flowers. I think the deer are trying to tell me something :) Best wishes to all.
