Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. Good morning. Slept in, watching the news. Very happy about the indictment, but am about ready for other news. Today: groceries, exercise of some sort, work on my Bookchat diary, and the new Saturday Night Music diary — I’m not the host this week, but gotta be there to see if we can keep it going.
Good Saturday morning, Meese! The air quality seems to be improving almost hourly. We’re down to 58, which is Code Yellow, but the sky is actually BLUE and the sunlight is actually golden. There’s a little breeze tossing the branches around, and the shadows are much more sharply defined than yesterday. It’s 65 F. in Ashburn, going up to 85 F.
Off to karate for seniors in less than an hour. If only one weren’t the slowest, stupidest person in the class!
Yes, it’s good news but I am SO SICK of the Orange Face and the whiny voice on TV. I want to be free of it!
Does anyone know a good Summer Solstice ritual with music? I need a ritual that involves as little speaking as possible. Also, as I’m going to be officiating for people who don’t know about invoking Goddesses or calling the quarters, I’m looking for an interfaith ritual that will make non-Witches feel comfortable. The Winter Solstice ritual I did was like that.
Well, I’d better start getting ready. It’s already 9 o’clock!
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 64 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 95. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The local weather guys say that it is unusual for there to not have been any 100 degree days yet for this time in June. I will take it! The mid 90s feel fine with low humidity but the 100s are hot, period. In any event, we are expecting to stay with pleasant weather at least through next Thursday.
So I think I have the tRump defense right: they will claim that he was just a small child excited to show off the cool things that he had access to when he was president* of the United States. Who wouldn’t want to share military maps and top secret documents with people who would then write admiring stories about him and think he was the coolest guy evah! The sad thing is that there are people who will buy that defense. I agree with those who say these charges are fraught – if we fail to hold a person like TFG accountable, there is nothing we can do to control a criminal president or ex-president. It has already been shown that the impeach and remove “tool” is useless when one of our political parties loves power more than they love the Constitution and the rule of law. In 1974, when Nixon resigned because his party was going to remove him from office and that prosecutors would possibly charge him with crimes, it seemed like there was a point where presidential criminality would not be tolerated and that both parties were willing to take steps. Now, the same political party that put country over party 50 years ago, is pulling out all the stops to defend and protect a sociopath willing to destroy everything in his path to regain power. Goddess help us.
I have no ill effects from my booster – a sore arm but on a scale of 1 to 10, probably a 2. I think I remember being tired the next day, not the day of, so I will make some good notes on what I need to do tomorrow and plan to take it easy the rest of the day.
See all y’all later!
It’s 65 heading for 79 today. We started out sunny enough to generate 1/3 of a KWH but then some very dark clouds moved in – lights are on & PV system is off – and we’ve added a bit more to the inch of rain we got yesterday afternoon/evening. We only generated 12.6 KWHs yesterday and the m-t-d at 147.7 is no longer on track, but at least it was double digits and we don’t have as much catching up to do.
I talked to my sister last night. My nephew is doing well enough that while he’s still working from home he’s been able to go to some of the company events. The most recent of which was going as a group to a baseball game – they had extra tickets so invited Grant’s parents/my sister & husband to join them. There is some concern. As fast as he’d been going, the doctor thought he’d be done now and the next/4th chemo a sort of just in case wrapping it up but he seems to have slowed down within sight of the finish line. The doctor’s thinking a different Rx “cocktail” and possibly a 5th round of chemo is going to be needed to get the job done. But barring something truly nasty coming out of the woodwork, at this point nobody doubts that the job will get done. So that’s good.
Everybody else, including me, is just trucking along. I don’t need to close the house up for a bit (other than the already closed west windows to keep the rain out) so I’m off to do my boosting chores. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good afternoon, 57 and raining in my garden today. The garden needs the rain, but I do hope for a dry afternoon tomorrow. I have some patio set up to finish but that will have to wait until the rain stops. The flowers are done so today I’m baking and prepping the food for tomorrow. Best wishes to all.
