Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 70 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 90. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast, it looks like the rain chances are zero. The humidity is very high and I hope it comes down – my walk won’t be in the high heat but the walk in high humidity is not pleasant either. Our newspaper said that August was hotter and wetter than usual. We are happy for the rain but I hope the August heat was an outlier.
I am not sure why Biden would want to appear with DeFascist in Florida – or why he would announce that he would and let the governor of Florida go after him for pulling resources away from recovery efforts. Barack Obama was always pitch perfect about when to visit disaster zones – he got a lot of crap for not going quickly but took it in stride, knowing it was better for the people on the ground. Biden does not need disaster zone photo ops to prove he understands disasters and is meeting the needs of the people effected.
I am going to ease slowly into my work weekend – today personal accounting, tomorrow work on the list of projects, Monday cleanup.
See all y’all later!
Good Saturday morning, Meese. We are waiting for Nora to get up and get dressed so we can go out to breakfast, then take her home. It’s another beautiful September morning, the last such morning before the hideous heat wave hits us.
We took Nora to dinner last night at Windows restaurant. In her crop-top and tiny denim shorts she looked too luscious for her own good. Everyone stared. After dinner we worked on the slide show but we are sadly lacking some pictures. Hope to find them somehow before the Memorial Dinner.
Right now it’s sunny and 62 F. in Ashburn, going up to all the 8s today. Tomorrow begins the frightful 99-degree heat every day of the coming week. Hope this is summer’s last gasp.
Wishing a nice, restful day to all at the Pond.
It was 58 when I got up, 62 now, heading for 92 and sunny. We’re looking at low to mid 90s for the next week with overnights in the low to mid 70s. Summer isn’t letting go just yet. Yesterday we generated 13 KWHs. Not on track for 400 but definitely on track to get us over the 365 goal. We shall see how long that lasts.
Fineena should be getting her mattress today and a cheap but still big enough to see what’s on it TV soon. A few more boxes and bags are opened and the stuff in them either put away or thrown away. Step by step.
All the small business folks, including Aji & Wings, are really hurting right now. Other people too, of course. A lot of the folks I boost, they aren’t choosing between meds and food, they’re choosing between rent and food. Then ending up on the streets if they don’t manage to fundraise for their shortage on the rent. I have some of those on my boosting list too. sigh. And I’d best get going on my boosting list for the day. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 71 and partly sunny outside my window. The predicted rain didn’t happen so I’ll need to water the garden first today. The garden shops all have end of season sales today so I may buy a few plants and see what happens with the new deer spray. It’s tempting to bring more than a few plants home but I’m cautious re how much more work that will entail. Feels good to have a few possibilities to consider though. Best wishes to all.
