Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

Good Saturday morning, Meese! Had a good night’s sleep but am still tired. Today is another sunny, glorious day in Ashburn, 42 F. now, going up to 60-something later. My dear little petunias and mint plant are still alive! They’re in a sheltered corner of the porch. They were thirsty, so I gave them a drink.
Last night when we cast members came out of the passageway after our play was finished, our director met us with two thumbs up. “They LOVED it,” she said. We made our way upstairs to the AV room so we could watch the other two plays. One of the cast for our play whispered that some audience members were so upset by the second play on Thursday, they just left. That was during the matinee. The second play is TERRIBLY depressing. It has to do with Alzheimer’s. The third play is okay.
I had hoped to focus on laundry today. It’s burst out of the hamper and is creeping across the bedroom floor toward the hallway. One day it will reach the living room. Yikes! But I’m worn out. Tomorrow I’ll have an extra hour to do laundry in between reading essays. My Writers’ Group meets next Thursday. Then on Friday I have the operation or whatever it’s called nowadays, and on and on.
I read in the WaPo that one of Goobernator Dumbkin’s people, off the record, that the Rethugs were going to be massacred in Tuesday’s election. Greg Sargent, the reporter, who is a male and therefore will never be faced with an unexpected pregnancy, said it wouldn’t be a massacre but it would be close. Really? We’ll see. Men never take the opinions of women into account.
Well, y’all, Ah’m so tard that I think I’ll just get back into bed. Tonight is the last night of the performances. On Saturday a lot of people go visit their local children or go out to dinner with friends, but I hope we’ll have a full house. We’ve had two highly successful days so far!
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
It’s 46 going to 70 and mostly sunny again today. Heading into a warm spell for several days. Yesterday we generated 6.59 KWHs and the m-t-d at 20.99 is still on track.
Fineena is still having trouble with her leg/foot but her doctor appointment is next week so we’re hoping for resolution. Everybody else is pretty much trucking along. Including me. But it helps to have good news like we’ve had for the Meeses this week. Lifts the heart.
Anyway, I’m off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Yay for sunny days and being on track!
good morning, 61 and very soggy outside my windows today. The cliche “a carpet of leaves” is descriptive of what I see on the lawn, and the sound of RonK raking the front sidewalk is so nice to hear. It’s familiar sound, one I would normally take for granted. but after his difficult surgery recovery is is very comforting. I hope to be busy with some Christmas organizing and sewing today but I’m slow to start so I’ll see how much I can do. Best wishes to all.
