Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good Saturday morning, Meese! Had a treat this morning, went out on the screened porch and saw Herself, looking quite full although I know She’s past it, and I bowed to Her. Did you know the Moon is receding farther and farther from us? Yup. I knew about Hubble’s theory of galactic red shift, but I’d forgotten that it STILL applies!
Little Karl apparently won’t be with us this weekend. He accompanied his family to Nora’s volleyball tournament in Richmond. Just as well, as I have a whole lot to do.
Didn’t sleep well last night. This morning I made biscuits from Jiffy Biscuit mix, and served them for breakfast along with scrambled eggs and bacon.
We STILL have not received Dearly’s Social Security statement of income for last year. We have our taxes deducted. Mine arrived some time ago and his should have arrived at the same time. I am going cray-cray as it’s nearly the end of the month and I have GOT to start doing the taxes!
It was 80 F. at National Airport yesterday! And 79 F. in NoVa at IAD. Both are record-breaking. Right now it’s quite nice and sunny, 50 F. and going up to 58 F. or something.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
OK, my friend just left. She brought her stove-top espresso maker & we had cappuccinos along with slices of the molasses spice muffin bread I baked last night. We mostly talked cats, those here & those over the Rainbow Bridge.
It’s 37 going to 39, overcast and supposed to be raining but it’s not. Yesterday we generated 2 KWHs & the m-t-d is 113.65 – not on track. Yesterday I got my SWEPCO bill. For the first time in 9 years I’m showing having used more – 50 KWHs more – electricity than I generated. Fortunately the “rollover” is still in place & I have “credit” KWHs so still only have to pay the $15 monthly maintenance.
Anyway, I’d best get to my boosting chores. Holding the Good Thoughts for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 49 and raining so it’s wet in my garden today, but I’m going to get the patios cleaned up regardless. It’s depressing to see the winter burned plants so they all need to be clipped and then I’ll add some primroses and cyclamens for winter color. Having a relatively warm and dry outdoor place to be is good for my mental health, and tRump angst has struck again so I need to counter it. Best wishes to all.
