Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: June 30th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It was 63 when I got up, 70 now, and heading for 91. Another day dry enough we don’t have a heat index. So that’s good. Yesterday morning I sent an official email to Ozark Solar saying that if they are unable or unwilling to fix my system to please recommend someone who can and is. I got a rather wounded-sounding email back mid-afternoon saying that he had contacted SolarEdge, has no control over their response times, and that he’s very busy on several installations so cut him a little slack. I emailed back saying I was glad he was busy with installations and I know he has no control over SolarEdge or its response times but to please keep me in the loop because if not, I don’t know whether that’s what’s going on or I need to find a new installer. We shall see if that changes anything.

    Nothing new on Fineena. Or anybody else that I know of. The cats got out. The twins, I did manage to keep Cloud & Bobbie inside. I managed to take out 2 litterboxes for changing and 1 round of trash. They slipped under my feet with the 2nd round of trash. Little so-and-sos. So I’m really glad it’s cool enough to have the windows and doors open right now. So I can see or hear them wanting in. Meanwhile, having steamed potatoes for potato salad already, it’s time to get to my boosting. Holding the Good/Healing Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  2. Good Saturday morning, Meese. Yikes, it’s a fair day with a few wisps of white cloud and it’s already 87 F.! I went out for a passegiata just after 7 a.m. and met a 15-year-old beagle and his mom. Other than that, I just met insects.

    Bfitz and I had a wonderful argy-bargy(Britspeak for animated discussion) yesterday evening. Fineena moves about so much—or rather, gets moved about so much—that I haven’t attempted to get in touch with her because I don’t know whether she’ll be asleep or what.

    Dearly wants coconut macaroons, so I’ll get ready to go to the store. Can’t think what to have for dinner tonight except tabouleh, which he won’t like. I like it! Need to get some more parsley and tomatoes, though.

    If only it would rain. It really, really ought to rain. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond. Going to ignore politics today, especially skanky Mark Warner and dumb Lloyd Doggett. And to think I used to think they were good guys!

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!

  3. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

    It is 82 degrees in Tucson ???? with an expected daytime high of 106. Sunny skies are in the forecast with a slight chance for rain. Yesterday afternoon’s “slight chance for rain” gave us a brief monsoonal shower and some thunder. North of us had more rain.

    I will continue to ignore the news until the media finds a new hobby horse to ride instead of giving headlines to the “Dump Biden” contingent. Maybe they should provide more details on the Project 2025 Contract on Democracy? America is poised to consider electing a fascist dictator and they want to interview Mark Freaking Warner! The time to replace Joe Biden was in the primary process. If no one had the inclination to run against a sitting president, they are NOT going to get a free pass at the convention. I and millions of others like me voted for Biden in the primary – do not disenfranchise us with your quaking quiverings of concern. You knew and we knew that Joe Biden is old and we voted for him anyway because he can beat the fascist. Now go away.

    I got a few things done this morning but mostly uncovered new things I need to do. I am going to try to get a walk in very quickly but if it is too uncomfortable, I will turn and come home and get on the treadmill this afternoon.

    See all y’all later!

  4. Good morning, 65 and sunny outside my windows today. I’m going to be in the garden soon watering plants and clipping aspen starts. When I planted the grove of aspen trees years ago I did not realize how the roots travel and that new trees sprout from them. Yikes, I’ve got a knee high forest growing! It’s going to be over 100 degrees in Kennewick today so I hope Ron can find a shady spot at the family party. TBH I’m grateful to be home where it’s cool and quiet. Best wishes to all.
