Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: September 29th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It’s 61 heading for 90, close but not a record for this date. (Yesterday’s 93 was a record.) We generated 11.9 KWHs and the m-t-d at 51.2 is still on track for something really good.

    Internet was up and down yesterday afternoon and finally went out altogether just after 5:30 and stayed out until after I went to bed. Since I wasn’t online for my “lights out” check in with Damit, I forgot to unplug the laptop so it spent the night on the charger. sigh. I haven’t heard anything from anybody so I guess they’re all OK. I usually hear something if they’re not. From somebody if not the one having the problem.

    Went to the Market this morning to pick up apples. Nothing else. Even at 7:30 in the morning there are way too many (unmasked) people too close together for me to be able to enjoy it as I used to. And I really can’t afford to do my shopping at the Market as I did when I was still working. But I still get my apples in season from the vendor I’ve been getting them from for 20 years now. And got enough to last 3 weeks. Anyway, off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  2. Good beautiful Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 65 F and breezy in Ashburn, going up to 75 F. I think I’ll wear Bermudas today.

    I really slept in this morning! It was 9:30 p.m. last night before I got out of rehearsal, midnight before I calmed down enough to go to sleep. I need to stop being such a b*tch about this awful role and recognize that people are trying to help me. Rehearsal did go better last night, so that is something.

    Today I need to try to see my friend, who is being visited by so many people you have to call the caregivers to get a time, and also finish editing Book 2. Need to start Book 3, I’m supposed to have finished by now! Luckily, no one seems to be beating down the door for it. $10 gets you $20 that it’ll be next year before I get paid, if at all.

    One of our stagehands was out for a while because of Covid. He was wearing a mask last night. I sometimes wonder whether I should. Dearly and I eat so few meals in the restaurants that we don’t seem to catch anything. I mean, we’re just not around other people that much.

    There’s a movie next door that I want to see. I forget what it’s about, but probably it’s about Jewish people resisting the Nazis. They’re showing it at 7 p.m. Before that I need to work on laundry, book, go to the gym, and visit the grocery store. Busy weekend ahead!

    Sending healing energy to all those who need it, and wishing a good day to all at the Pond.

  3. Good morning, 49 and partly cloudy in Bellingham today. As you all know I love to be in my garden, but not when dead critters are there too :( RonK has cleaned the path so now I can clip some red dogwood twigs and finish the garden arrangement I made yesterday. Garden therapy is needed today but I have to keep it easy. Best wishes to all.
