Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: November 17th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It’s 41, feels like 34, heading for 57 and sunny today. Yesterday we generated 7.29 KWHs and the m-t-d at 116.9 is on track and gaining. May actually get frost overnight. Got my gas bill in. Last year I used 20 CCF for this billing period. This year I used 8. Signs of things to come. Not an exceptionally hot year although a lot of highs were broken. I didn’t use more than 290 KWHs while running A/C last summer. In really hot years I’ve used over 500. But heat started early and is obviously lasting long.

    I saw the moon this morning. She’s at the point where She shines in my bedroom window when I get up right now. But She’s still a blessing and I send my love to everyone via her light. Right especially to my Aunt Ellen and my cousins/her children. I got a call from my cousin yesterday. Aunt Ellen’s been unconscious and on her way out for days. They think she’s waiting for something or somebody. So they’re contacting all the family. They put the phone on speaker and set it on her pillow then left the room so I could say my goodbyes to her. Which I did. Told her how much I loved her, how many cherished memories I have going back to when she used to protect us from the neighborhood bully when I was a little kid, told her that if it’s her time to go with my love, and that her mother and sisters were waiting for her. Which they are. I hope that was what she needed and she’s been able to let go/go on. Somebody will remember to call me and let me know. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

    Time to get to my boosting. (By yesterday afternoon I forgot it was Tuesday and missed Black Kos – I need to get over there sometime today.) Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  2. Good morning, 42 quiet and cloudy outside my windows today. Thankfully the high winds missed us but seeing the photos of trees down on houses in Sudden Valley are alarming. I love my tall trees but when the wind blows them down houses are crushed and streets are closed.
    Bri will be here today to help clean up the last of the leaves and spread compost on the beds, and I have a few winter pansies to plant. Thanks to a parking/walker snafu I had to reschedule my lab appointment so that will happen today too. And I’ll have to allow more time to find parking closer to where I need to be. A large parking building next to the lab building isn’t helpful when it’s to far to walk! Best wishes to all.

  3. Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …

    It is 63 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 73. Sunny skies are in the forecast.

    I sent off some emails to push off some projects until tomorrow and will now sit and put my feet up. I was too busy yesterday for a semi-retired person and it is time to take a break.

    See all y’all later!
