Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: February 9th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good morning. Getting ready for a “shake out” run with my group then breakfast tacos and packet/t-shirt pick up. I love these guys but I’ll be so glad to not be getting up to get to the park early Saturday mornings.

  2. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

It is 45 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 63. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. We had a 10 minute rain last night and I could smell the wonderful desert rain scent this morning when I went out on my deck.

I really can’t deal with the news and I am glad that I am busy. So many lives will be ruined – the tRump malAdministration is wreaking economic havoc not seen since the global financial meltdown of 2008 and it is completely self-induced. Goddess help us all.

I have a full platter of work projects today and tomorrow so I need to get back to it.

    See all y’all later!

    • The Moose is having problems connecting from my computer. I am not sure if it is my computer (I have been having intermittent Internet issues) or something at the moose. I also have some kind of warning on Firefox.

If it is the Moose, some cache cleanup might help resolve the issue. Remember, I am no longer on Twitter but you can reach me via DMs on BlueSky.

  3. It’s 51 heading for 53 overcast and is supposed to rain later. Maybe even snow after sundown. Yesterday we generated 5.2 KWHs and the m-t-d at 79.3 is not on track & lost ground.

I had trouble getting into Moose this morning & won’t know until I hit “post” whether or not I can. I can’t fierce anything. Got firewood yesterday morning and so far the hickory does indeed seem to burn better/longer than the maple. We shall see. EM absolutely wants to trash the economy and destroy the U.S. dollar. Shame on the Rs for aiding and abetting him. Also stupid of them of course. They aren’t going to get any benefit out of it. But that’s been evident for a long time.

    I had a wretched night and am very groggy. Sigh. Best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

      • Thanks for reporting the issues!

I did find a problem with the Fiercing widget (I was having fiercing problems also). There was also a widget that is supposed to help make images display better that I turned off because images were garbled. That widget came with the new hosting and we really don’t need it so I deactivated it.

Tracking my changes here in case one of these things made it worse:
        – Updated spam widget
        – Updated ULike widget
        – Deactivated image display widget
        – Optimized Critical CSS
        – Cleared page cache

    • Melon Husk will be given permission to destroy the government until red states complain. From what we have seen, red states don’t really care if their constituents suffer and are willing to let them all die and die miserably in service to the MAGAt King.

  4. Good Saturday morning, Meese! We have gray skies, 37 F., and someone mentioned rain or snow. Harrumph! We shall see.

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner in the Pub down the hall. The staff worked hard to make it special, with white tablecloths, red table napkins, roses on each table, champagne while we were waiting to be seated (I accepted a glass, but poured it into Dearly’s glass as soon as there was room), and little spanakopita bites. The chefs outdid themselves: filet mignon with souffleed garlic potatoes, lobster bisque, and then chocolate creme brulee. Lawks, we were stuffed!

Afterwards I came home and tried on a new dark wig (for my role in “Crazy for You”) and realized that it made me look like a horse. Sheet! I don’t know what to do. My character is supposedly 24 years old, she’s not supposed to have white hair. I’ll think of something.

The news gets worse and worse! I’d better try to do the taxes on Sunday. It supposedly takes 3 hours with TT, but it always takes me longer (screams and curses are often involved). The news is so bad my mind refuses to accept it. My Trumpy daughter-in-law admitted for the first time when I texted her yesterday that she is worried about her well-paid government job. All these people being interviewed by the WaPo about how they voted for Thing but didn’t expect THIS get no sympathy from me. What did they THINK was going to happen?

I’ve always dreaded being a bag lady one day, but the way Thing is carrying on, it may happen yet. In the meantime, I will continue to pray for the ill, and hope that somehow things will get better. Right now I don’t see how.

Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
