Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: April 6th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. It’s 62 heading for 78 and sunny today. Windy so it doesn’t feel warm. At least not yet. But I’m sure it will. I’ve got my PV data back. Still the techbro version so I have to do 4 steps to get to the data that used to be the default – every time I refresh to update – but at least it’s back. Yesterday we generated 20.3 KWHs and the m-t-d at 81.1 is gaining ground.

    I’m creaky, still, and running behind my time as it were. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  2. Good morning, 51 and partly sunny in Bellingham today. RonK is walkinging the woods and I’m gardening via computer. I’m looking for 3 Annabelle hydrangeas and the nurseries I want to go to have gravel paths and are hard to negotiate with the walker I keep in my car. I’ve ordered an all terrain walker so I hope it will make walking on gravel paths, the cobblestones in Fairhaven, my sloping garden, etc easier. It should arrive today so I’ll soon know. Best wishes to all.

  3. Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …

    It is 82 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Sunny skies are in the forecast. New air conditioning unit is in place so all is good in my little part of the Old Pueblo.

    See all y’all later!

  4. Thursday Meese.30 here in Kingston going up to 52 – reversing the cold snap.

  5. Good morning. I walked & ran before work. In the office, ugh. Sent my ADA paperwork to my doctor’s office. Hope they sign off on it. (to keep working at home 2 days, I have to request accommodation for, I guess anxiety)

  6. Depending on which widget I look at, it’s either 55 or 63 right now, heading for 77, and sunny. Yesterday we generated 19.6 KWHs and the m-t-d at 100.4 is gaining ground.

    Outlook made me sign a license agreement Monday to get at my email and now today they’ve canceled my subscription. Sigh. Since basket has me on his family plan, I’ve reported it to him. Meanwhile I’ll use Yahoo. (My Outlook account is connected to my Yahoo account, I just use Outlook because the format is easier for me to deal with.)

    Other than the anxiety over whether or not I’m going to get my Social Security, everything’s OK in my life. I wish I could say the same for some of my friends. And that I could do something about the things some of my friends are facing. Sigh. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  7. Good Thursday morning, Meese! ‘Tis sprinkly and 50 in Ashburn today. Yesterday evening I saw an outline of the moon while daylight was fading, so I knew how She would look later. However, clouds swept in and will remain until She’s past the full. Duh.

    Dearly had to take the car this morning to visit the doctor in Reston. I’m waiting for him to pick me up so I can pick up Shakespeare’s birthday cake at the bakery. I also need to buy plates. I told my writers not to eat too much lunch and to bring whatever they want to drink. I’ll have tea, so I can stay awake.

    Lank was missing again last night. It’s just music again tonight and he really doesn’t have any solos, so if he misses rehearsal tonight it won’t be too bad. I hope he’s okay. Tomorrow we’ll be running through the whole play, music, speaking, and all, so I hope he feels well enough tomorrow.

    Four of the 11 writers will be absent this afternoon, which leads me to wonder whyinell I bother to lead them. Never mind, I’m just in a bad mood.

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond, and healing white light to all who are ill!

  8. Good morning, 51 and cloudy in Bellingham. The new walker arrived yesterday and it’s a keeper, yay! It’s expensive so I have hesitated but walking over the pavers and gravel is smooth, I can carry it up and down the outdoor stairs with one hand, it fits easily in the car, and it’s much more comfortable to use. So I’m going to keep it.
    Sue will be here soon so I need to get busy getting my part of this housekeeping day underway. Best wishes to all.

  9. Good morning, meeses! Thursday …

    It is 77 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 91. Sunny skies are in the forecast.

    I have dilly dallied on my computer this morning and need to shut down and take my walk before it is too hot.

    See all y’all later!

  10. Friday Meese. I have spiritual ceremonies to attend tomorrow and Sunday – so may not be logging in.

    Puerto Rico

    Members of the Trump administration are chastising Denmark for how it manages Greenland — implying that America, somehow, could do it better.
    … perhaps we should look a little closer to home, at how the U.S. has neglected its own island territories: Puerto Rico and Guam

  11. Good morning. In the office. Got out my white capris because if it’s gonna be 90 degrees, that’s what I’m wearing. Monday I walked in multiple layers, hat & gloves. Short sleeves this morning. Texas in the springtime.

  12. Good morning, meeses! Friday …

    It is 64 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 95. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. The lower valley might see 100s but I live a little higher up where it stays “cooler”. This morning I saw what looked like moonglow on the other side of the green space and against the mountains and I suspect it was from the moonset in the due west that would have just been finishing up. Last night I saw her huge in the ESE sky so we will definitely see her rise over the mountains after 7pm not too long after she turns full tomorrow, 4/12, at 5:22pm MST. There will be no clouds.

    I am going news light as it is giving me the sads to see the destruction of so much so quickly, the programs built to help people – not just the “poors” despised by the MAGAts but schoolchildren but college students, people who don’t want to die of disease, people who benefit every day from the money that the government invests in science, and goddess help us all, the people who need to live on our planet which is being gleefully destroyed by the sociopaths in charge of the federal government and their pals. There is certainly Republican overreach, not everyone hates as much as they do, and there could be a price to pay at the polls but they was no payback for a literal insurrection so I am not too hopeful. In any event, I will scan the news in case I need to pack my bags and head to Mexico but not read too deeply in order to preserve my mental health.

    I have a lot to do today to prep for weekend work I have planned.

    See all y’all later!

  13. Depending on which widget it’s 51, 54, or 39 (that’s from the PV system) heading for 69 and sunny. Yesterday we generated 20.49 KWHs and the m-t-d at 121 is still gaining.

    Didn’t manage to see the moon last night or this morning. Actually managed to go to sleep before she was far enough west to see her from my bedroom window and slept until just after she dropped behind the hills. Which was a remarkably good night’s sleep for me. Maybe tonight or in the morning. Need to go get milk today. Fortunately my library books autorenewed so I don’t have to take them back yet. Which is very good as I’ve not finished with one of them. Anyway, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  14. Good Friday morning, Moosekind! It’s 47 F. in Ashburned, not going to get much higher. We’re waiting for rain. We’ve been waiting and waiting, but no rain again. It’s supposed to be HEAVY rain.

    Was so tired after running around yesterday morning and the writers’ meeting yesterday afternoon, followed by Rehearsal (but I was dismissed at 8) that I went back to bed this morning. Didn’t sleep after all that coffee, but my weary bones appreciated the nice rest.

    They’re having an ice cream social at Farmwell Hall (inside walking distance for us), so after lunch we’ll totter down there. I’m allowed ice cream twice a week. Haven’t been to the gym in ages, there’s just too much to do. Next week will be equally busy.

    Our (premature) celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday was extremely successful yesterday, despite the absence of several members. I was impressed by how much time a couple of them had spent thinking about Shakespeare. Anyway, the cake was delicious, there’s some left over, so now I’m wondering whom I can share it with. Dearly ate a slice yesterday but thinks it’s “too rich.” Crud, no matter what it is, he isn’t satisfied with it.

    Just heard all 9 Supremes voted to make T**mp bring back the innocent man who currently is sequestered (and no doubt being tortured) in a Central American prison. Like Jan, I will go light on news today to keep my sanity. We’re going to do a full rehearsal tonight, so I need to prepare for that.

    Wishing a good day to all on my prayer list, may they experience love and healing white light. And of course, wishing a good day to all at the Pond!

  15. Good morning, 51 and sunny. My new walker is easier to use but it is a bit big for crowded antique shops :) Oh well, I didn’t break anything and found some small green vases that will be fun to use for this year’s Easter table. I’ll see how I do in Fairhaven today. Best wishes to all.

  16. Good morning. Yesterday I found out that while they’re working on my request for an exemption to the return to office order, I get to keep working from home. So, yay for that. Going to kickboxing later, it’s very therapeutic to imagine the issuer of the RTO order when I’m doing uppercuts.

  17. Good Saturday morning, Meese! The sun would love to come out and keeps showing us peeks of blue sky, but then the clouds start “louring” again and the world outside is gray. The only bright spots are the purple trees in the woods—redbuds? It’s 46 F. in Ashburn.

    Here in ServerFarmLandia we waited all yesterday for rain. It finally began at 5 p.m. and rained quite steadily for a while. I’m not sure how much we received.

    If I do nothing else today I’ll go to the gym. Haven’t been since Monday. Last night at 10:00 p.m. I was seized with a fit of the munchies after Rehearsal, so ate a few Doritos, then the rest of the Cracker Jack packet (will never buy that crap again, I could make it myself and it’d be better), then some Springle from TJ’s, and then a few lightly salted cashews to top it off. The thing is, I didn’t like the clunky tomato soup the Pub served for dinner, didn’t much care for the turkey meatloaf, and the “roasted” carrots were too numerous. So I only ate half of it all. Woe is me! My weight was back up again this morning.

    The costumer returned my Scene 1 shoes yesterday evening. She couldn’t get black velvet bows to work (the buckles on the shoes need to be covered), so she stuck royal blue bobbles on each one. There’s a matching royal blue bobble on my hat, so at least they’ll go together. After I clomped on stage in them, Director Kate tactfully mentioned that everyone within 10 miles could hear me coming, so could I please walk on the balls of my feet. After Rehearsal, a fellow cast member suggested I put masking tape on the bottom of the shoes to mask the sound. I’ll do that.

    Lank was back, in good fettle, although he looked pale and thin. I almost said, “Lank, Lank, you have shrank,” as he has noticeably lost weight. He admitted he’d lost a few pounds, but added he’d spent a lot of time at the doctor’s office Friday morning because the new meds were having unpleasant side effects. My daughter has already told me about Metformin and its side effects, and they sound awful.

    That’s enough from me, c’est vrai? I’ll try to avoid the news today, it’s too depressing. Next Wednesday, Bfitz and I are supposed to get our “Social.” I hope we do.

    Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and healing white light to the 15 people on my prayer list!

  18. Depending on the widget it’s either 41 or 51 but heading for 76 today and sunny. Yesterday we generated 20.85 KWHs and the m-t-d at 141.97 is still gaining but still multiple days’ (almost a full week’s) worth of 20+ to get back on track.

    I saw the moon several times overnight. The trees haven’t leaved out so much I couldn’t see her although of course there were still a lot of branches in the way. The last time was in the “wee sma’s” when I got up to go to the necessary – my bed was flooded with moonlight and there she was at about the “2 o’clock” position in the sky.

    Like Diana (and Suzanne/aashirs nani) I’m anxious about whether or not my Social Security will come in next Wednesday. Meanwhile, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
